Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of the Marketing Academy within Global Marketing, this leader will shape and advance key elements of the Marketing Academy, including marketer capability development, career pathways, leadership skills, communities of practice, new hire curriculum, growth initiatives and external partnerships. The role carries accountability for impact measurement through dashboards and metrics, capital allocation, learning design, and strategic and operating plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team responsible for marketer capability development, career pathways, leadership skills, communities of practice, new hire curriculum, growth initiatives, external partnerships, learning design and metrics

  • Drive key strategic initiatives, supervise and/or lead short-to-midterm duration strategic initiatives for MA and/or within Global Marketing.

  • Serve as a marketing subject matter expert to enhance Marketing Academy deliverables

Key Responsibilities

  • Sponsor Marketers Capability Framework and Career Pathways
    Oversee the team responsible for implementing and enhancing the Capabilities Framework. Act as a strategic thought partner to the team and People Experience (PX) leads, as well as International, US, and Global leads, on Career Pathways and core Marketing personas. Leverage extensive marketing experience to guide decisions and strategy.
  • Ensure Alignment of Capabilities with Marketing Academy Offerings
    Provide input to the Marketing Academy Lead on priorities for curriculum planning and training content. Serve as an engagement facilitator or speaker when needed to reinforce learning initiatives.
  • Lead Marketing Communities of Practice
    Champion active communities that foster learning and inspiration among marketers. Expand the current base into multiple communities focused on key roles, personas, specialties, and regions. Utilize digital tools to drive engagement alongside webinars and in-person events.
  • Serve as a Deployable Subject Matter Expert
    Represent the Marketing Academy by guiding brand teams and delivering advanced, engaging training sessions to strengthen skills in positioning, competitive excellence, end-to-end execution, and business acumen.
  • Drive Continuous Impact and Measurement
    Supervise tracking, collection, and analysis of Marketing Academy engagement data. Lead ROI and business impact analysis and champion the MA metrics dashboard for stakeholders.
  • Lead Growth and Innovation Initiatives
    Oversee initiatives that promote innovation, professional development, and leadership opportunities for marketers.
  • Manage External Partnerships
    Establish and maintain relationships with agencies, consultants, and thought leaders to deliver best-in-class learning solutions.
  • Advance Adult Learning Modalities
    Act as a thought partner and oversee the team in developing modern, effective learning approaches tailored for adult learners.
  • Execute Strategic Initiatives and Operational Planning
    Lead or supervise short- to mid-term strategic initiatives for the Marketing Academy and Global Marketing. Manage budget and operating plans, advise on capital allocation and trade-offs, and provide regular updates to the Head of CMO on progress. Contribute to or lead cross-portfolio initiatives focused on execution excellence.
  • Lead and Develop TalentManage a team of approximately six colleagues, providing guidance on performance, setting goals, offering feedback, and driving career development and growth plans.

EXPERIENCES REQUIRED  

  • Brand Management – 12+ years commercial/marketing experience in biopharmaceutical industry or 10+years of experience with Masters/MBA. These experiences ideally include Brand Strategy, Segmentation, Positioning, Messaging. Ideally this person is proficient in key CMO vertical expertise (Analytics, Media, Creative Excellence, CRM).   The candidate should have one of the following: Global Marketing, US Marketing, International Commercial Office/Regional Marketing, or International Top 4 market experience.
  • BA/BS required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Capability-Building – Someone who is a true ‘player-coach,’ a leader who has built / scaled the function in terms standards, models, and measurement. This ability to create a high-performing team includes agency partners, consultants, etc.
  • Strong business acumen.  Pharmaceutical marketing experience, and broader healthcare business knowledge; knowledge of portfolio and product value drivers and incentives across largest healthcare systems globally.
  • Demonstration of strategic creativity. Agile thinking & approaches, leading through change.
  • Strong listening skills and communication skills.  High emotional intelligence; highly effective written, verbal, and influencing skills at all levels; ability to work in different cultures across highly matrixed organizations as a leader.
  • Commits to “One Pfizer” approach and high compliance standards.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $204,700.00 to $341,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
