Market Access National and Regional Director, Nordics - Alexion
Are you ready to make a difference in the world of rare diseases?
The role leads end-to-end market access strategy for Alexion’s rare disease portfolio covering Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Norway. You will shape national access pathways by building strategic payer engagement, driving value and access narratives, aligning cross-functional teams on evidence, pricing, contracts, and policy positioning, and creating the conditions that accelerate and sustain timely access. While Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and reimbursement are part of the remit, the focus is broader: establishing predictable partnerships with payers and decision-makers, navigating budget impact and funding routes, and enabling account-level execution so that national outcomes, whether positive or constrained, translate into real-world patient access across priority hospitals and clinics.
This role is field-based, with approximately 60% office-based work and 40% in the field, ensuring close engagement with stakeholders across the Nordics. It will involve regular visits to our Stockholm office. We expect the successful candidate to be based in either Gothenburg or the Stockholm area.
You will report directly to the country director Nordics, who is based in Stockholm.
You will be responsible:
Lead National Access Strategy & Execution:
Develop and own Nordic access strategies across brands, aligned with our regional strategy Central Eastern Northern Europe (CENE), Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), EUCAN/GVAP. Partner early with HEOR to secure data for submissions. Orchestrate HTA and reimbursement with clear strategy and timely evidence. Build trusted relationships with national authorities and payers, engage early to reduce uncertainty, and track pricing/reimbursement/tendering and policy trends to adapt proactively.
Bridge National and Local Access:
Translate national decisions into real hospital and clinic use. Guide our field force team to resolve account‑level barriers (governance, budget, pathways) and co‑create targeted solutions. Work with field teams to secure financing, formulary inclusion, and operational readiness. Develop local business cases and budget impact narratives, tailor value communication to administrators/finance/clinical leaders, and mitigate barriers such as affordability, implementation cost, and capacity.
The role is partly field based to ensure that national access strategies are grounded in real-world hospital conditions and that positive national decisions can be implemented at the local level. Direct engagement with key accounts, hospital decision-makers, and clinical leaders strengthens execution, builds trust, and enables seamless alignment between national strategy and local adoption across all Nordic countries.
Lead Cross‑Functional Collaboration:
Act as the local driver of access strategies across Market Access, Field force, Medical, HEOR, Policy, and Commercial. Ensure timely, transparent communication and negotiation with CENE, EUCAN Access, and GVAP, align messaging and priorities, and deliver operational excellence through structured planning, scenario thinking, risk mitigation, and senior‑level communication.
