An exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer Manager to join the team in Derby as part of our Aerospace Procurement Business at Rolls Royce.

Our Procurement Manufacturing Engineering teams support everything the business does in the global supplier enterprise covering the Civil, Business Aviation and Defence sectors. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Product Transfers – Provide technical leadership to product transfers across the Aerospace Procurement enterprise including.

    • Technical Governance – Technical governance of transfer programmes to underpin delivery success. Establish review structure, weekly and Ap’ly, with aligned technical KPIs.

    • Process Adherence – Functional guidance to ensure adherence to aligned process through application of applicable rules & tools.

    • Business Control Authority – Function as the transfers BCA providing support and direction to ensure technical and transfer risks are managed and mitigated.

    • Supplier Capability – be active in the support and selection of new suppliers including ESCCAs (External Supply Chain Capability Assessments)

    • Cost – Drive the product cost benefit derived through transfer ensuring transfer costs are minimised, and full transfer benefits realised.

    • Validation Strategy – Derive and deliver benefit using standardised, commodity aligned validation criteria on transfer programmes.

    • Collaboration – As the Manufacturing Engineering lead in product transfers, work closely with other functional communities, including Design Engineering, Programme & Cost Management to maximise transfer success.

  • Technology – Provide leadership and focus on technology programmes and future technology requirements across the Aerospace Procurement enterprise.

    • Technology Programmes – Technical governance, including KPIs, of Technology Programmes active in the Aerospace Procurement space including oversight and delivery of TRL activities and routine governance.

    • New Product Requirements – Act as the key Manufacturing engineering interface on new products with ET&S ensuring early engagement on new engine opportunities.

    • Cost – Drive the product cost benefits derived through application of new manufacturing and process technologies in the supply chain.

    • Internal Collaboration – Engagement and collaboration with technical specialists and GPO’s (Global Process Owners) in support of technology programmes and realisation in the supply chain 

    • External Collaboration – Leverage competitive and cost advantage through external technology partnerships – AxRCs (Advanced Manufacturing Research Centres) and UTCs (University Technology Centres).

Who we’re looking for

  • An engineering or other relevant discipline degree or HND/HNC with extensive previous experience working in a manufacturing engineering or related environment.

  • Technical leadership experience with previous experience as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager or similar roles an advantage.

  • Supply chain leadership experience with working knowledge of product transfers and technology development programmes.

  • Previous leadership experience with a proven record of establishing, growing and leading high performing teams.

  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated experience using tools and techniques associated with transfer and technology programmes in an Aerospace supply chain environment.

  • Excellent organisational, communication and presentation skills and feel comfortable presenting to varied audiences at all levels of the organisation.

  • You will be an enthusiastic and passionate leader with a flexible attitude and approach to work to get the most from the team, demonstrating a keen interest in learning and sharing knowledge to develop and grow yourself and others.
