Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer provides mechanical and industrial engineering support to improve production quality, process capability, equipment reliability, and overall manufacturing productivity. This role develops, implements, and sustains manufacturing processes for all product lines while driving continuous improvement across safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Essential Functions:
- Design, develop, and industrialize manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and equipment for brazing, metallization, and ceramic/metal material behavior
- Analyze product flows to reduce cycle time, scrap, rework, and variation; implement corrective and preventive actions using data-driven methods.
- Provide hands-on support to resolve manufacturing issues, optimize throughput, and maintain high operational readiness of production equipment.
- Perform root-cause analysis using engineering principles and statistical tools to solve problems effectively and sustainably.
- Create and maintain process documentation (traveler instructions, specifications, control plans, PFMEA, SOPs) to ensure consistent product quality.
- Partner with engineering, production supervisors, quality inspectors, planners, and technicians to achieve daily production objectives.
- Lead or support new product introductions by developing initial process flows, prototype builds, and production-scale manufacturing solutions.
- Coordinate vendor engagement related to tooling, equipment upgrades, and process improvements.
- Implement Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, ergonomics, equipment uptime, and cost efficiency.
Manufacturing Engineer – Level 1 (Associate)
Experience & Capabilities:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
- 0–3 years of manufacturing engineering experience or technical internship.
- Familiar with production equipment, shop-floor processes, and manufacturing documentation.
- Performs portions of plans, specifications, and engineering tasks with initial supervision.
- Analyzes simple data sets and prepares basic engineering summaries or reports.
- Works as part of a team and coordinates tasks with operators, technicians, and supervisors.
- Assists in developing fixtures, basic tooling, and work instructions.
- Communicates effectively in writing and in meetings with cross-functional teams.
Manufacturing Engineer – Level 2
Experience & Capabilities:
- Includes all Level 1 skills plus increased ownership and independent task execution.
- Experience: 3–7 years manufacturing engineering experience working with process and automation equipment.
- Performs complete project tasks with limited oversight.
- Interprets plans, specifications, and complex project documents; provides technical input.
- Prepares detailed reports, charts, and documentation for process performance.
- Creates specifications and justification for capital equipment.
- Demonstrates strong organization, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Works independently to resolve moderately complex engineering problems.
- Implements process modifications, tooling improvements, and productivity solutions.
- Familiar with Control plans and troubleshooting of production equipment.
Manufacturing Engineer – Level 3 (Senior Engineer)
Experience & Capabilities:
- Experience: 7–10+ years manufacturing engineering experience working with process, automation, or specialized manufacturing equipment.
- Leads multi-functional projects and new process development.
- Provides problem-solving with analysis, risk evaluation, and statistical methods.
- Develops plans, specifications, and justification for engineering projects and capital equipment.
- Prepares proposals, cost models, and schedules; determines scope and resource requirements.
- Receives limited supervision and resolves complex or unconventional technical issues.
- Offers technical recommendations to leadership based on data, cost, and feasibility.
- Oversees implementation of large-scale process improvements and introduces new technologies.
- Guides Level 1 and Level 2 engineers and provides informal mentorship.
Manufacturing Lead Engineer (Staff / Principal Level)
Experience & Capabilities:
- Experience: 10+ years manufacturing engineering experience with leadership and ownership of major engineering programs.
- Leads multiple complex engineering projects involving cross-functional teams and significant technical depth.
- Develops process strategies, long-term capability roadmaps, and implementation plans aligned to business objectives.
- Selects engineering methods, principles, and economic justification approaches for major improvements and CAPEX programs.
- Provides advanced technical guidance to engineering, production, quality, and leadership stakeholders.
- Develops ROI models, cost-benefit analysis, and capital requests to support major equipment acquisitions or facility upgrades.
- Represents engineering in executive reviews and cross-site collaboration.
- Mentors the engineering team and sets technical direction for process architecture, productivity, and technology adoption.
Total Rewards
The compensation range for this position (Manufacturing Engineer) is $74,200 - $129,000, depending on experience, higher level This position may be eligible for performance-based bonus plan.

Work environments and physical demands vary by role and may include:
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) or safety gear, provided by STC.
- A combination of seated and standing work; walking for moderate to extended periods.

- Deadlines, shifting priorities, and peak workloads that may create a fast-paced environment.
Manufacturing & Production Areas:
- Work performed on the shop floor, in climate-controlled spaces, or clean rooms. Some areas may be noisy, dusty, or warm.
- Work performed on the manufacturing shop floor can be noisy with temperature changes.
- Mandatory use of job-specific PPE and machine guards.
- Occasional bending, squatting, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.; some roles require pushing loaded carts.
