The Opportunity:
CACI is looking for a Manufacturing Test Engineer to join our team in Orlando, Fl. This is part of our Optical and Photonics Systems Division, we specialize in the design, development, and manufacturing of complex, state-of-the-art communications systems for military, space, and commercial applications.
 

The Manufacturing Test Engineer will be responsible for the development, maintenance and optimization of test procedures for PCBA, fiber/laser optic assemblies, and electrical hardware solutions for production Space Flight Optical Inter Satellite Link Terminals. This role combines hands-on testing with engineering support to ensure manufacturing excellence.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop test procedures and work instructions for electrical, fiber optic, and laser testing of PCBA and related assemblies
  • Optimize manufacturing test processes to improve efficiency, yield, and quality
  • Perform characterization and validation testing on complex electromechanical and photonic assemblies
  • Troubleshoot and analyze test failures, implement corrective actions, and process improvements
  • Develop and maintain test specifications, test plans, and quality control documentation
  • Select and qualify test equipment and tooling for cleanroom manufacturing environment
  • Train and support technicians in test procedures and equipment operations
  • Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability and testability of products
  • Document test results, failure analysis, and process improvements in MES and reporting systems
  • Support maintenance and calibration of test equipment
  • Work in cleanroom environment, ESD and FOD control areas with proper safety precautions


Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in EE or EET and a minimum of 8 years or an associate’s degree and a minimum of 10 years or equivalent combination of education and experience of working in manufacturing test engineering, electronics testing, or related field.
  • Proven experience developing test procedures for complex electromechanical, electronic, fiber optic, and laser assemblies
  • Proven technical acumen in the manufacture, test and integration of complex product technologies and systems, DoD or Space.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and ability to work well in team environment with people at all levels.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, spectrum analyzers
  • Optical power meters, optical spectrum analyzers
  • Fiber optic test equipment (OTDR, VFL, inspection systems)
  • Laser sources and characterization equipment
  • Data acquisition systems and automated test equipment
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles
  • Fiber optics theory and applications
  • Laser operation, characterization, and safety protocols
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT)
  • Root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques
  • Test procedure development and documentation
  • Test automation and scripting (LabVIEW, Python, or similar)
  • Reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, and specifications
  • Failure analysis and troubleshooting


Desired:     

  • Aerospace or space hardware manufacturing experience
  • Experience with high-reliability electronics (MIL-STD requirements)
  • Micro-electronics assembly experience
  • J-STD-001 with Space Addendum (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies)
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Laser Safety experience
  • Experience with free-space optical communications systems
  • Test automation software – Python/LabVIEW

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$71,500 - $150,200
