Managing Director, Demand Generation

The Managing Director, Demand Generation is the enterprise leader accountable for defining, scaling, and optimizing demand generation strategies that drive customer (D2C) and client (B2B) acquisition, retention, and cross‑sell across Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth. This role manages the demand generation engine, ensuring that enterprise and business marketing growth strategies are translated into high‑impact, efficient, and measurable marketing execution.

This leader will build and lead a high‑performing team of campaign designers and email marketers responsible for executing demand programs targeted to customers, clients, and brokers in support of acquisition, retention, and cross‑sell goals. Success in this role is measured by operational excellence and business outcomes, including efficiency, impact delivered, quality and consistency of content, and strong adoption of shared marketing technology and data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Demand Generation Strategy

  • Set the enterprise vision and strategy for demand generation across D2C and B2B audiences, including customers, clients, and brokers, aligned to business growth priorities and the target audiences established by Segment Marketing.
  • Partner closely with Business Marketing leaders across Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth to align targeting strategies, demand generation goals, and campaign plans with enterprise and line‑of‑business marketing strategies.
  • Translate growth priorities into clear demand generation roadmaps, campaign frameworks, and audience strategies that scale across businesses.

Senior Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team of campaign designers and email marketers accountable for end‑to‑end campaign execution.
  • Establish enterprise standards for content quality, audience relevance, testing discipline, and performance optimization.
  • Build a strong leadership bench and foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and results orientation.

Operational Excellence & Performance Management

  • Own the operational health of the Demand Generation function, including intake, prioritization, capacity management, and deployment governance.
  • Drive continuous improvements in efficiency and effectiveness through standardized processes, reusable assets, and scalable execution models.
  • Define, monitor, and report on success metrics focused on efficiency, outcomes produced, quality of execution, and platform utilization.

Data, Technology & Measurement Leadership

  • Champion consistent and advanced use of shared marketing technology and data platforms to enable scalable execution, improved targeting, and measurable demand impact.
  • Partner with Marketing Analytics, Market Insights, and MarTech leaders to advance segmentation, attribution, test‑and‑learn practices, and performance reporting.
  • Ensure campaign results and insights are clearly communicated to senior stakeholders and inform ongoing strategy and investment decisions.

Enterprise Partnership & Influence

  • Serve as a senior thought partner to Marketing Strategy, Business Marketing, Digital, Product, Customer Experience, Analytics, and Technology leaders.
  • Influence decision‑making at the executive level by providing clear, data‑driven recommendations that balance growth ambition with operational rigor.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience leading demand generation, growth marketing, or integrated marketing functions across B2C and B2B environments.
  • Demonstrated success driving enterprise‑level growth outcomes through data‑driven, scalable marketing programs.
  • Deep experience modernizing marketing operations through process optimization, automation, and technology enablement.
  • Proven senior‑level people leadership experience, including building and leading managers and high‑performing teams.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence across a complex, matrixed organization.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 205,700 - 342,800 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
