As a Leader in Technology & Innovation the individual will be responsible to lead the Global Strength in Next Generation Technology Development for electric drive systems and energy conversion products for the global automotive market. The position demands global leadership in developing engineering teams, strengthen collaboration worldwide, and develop advanced product roadmaps, project ideation, project concept execution planning, team building-retention-performance assessment, customer engagement and understanding and alignment with business unit vision and strategy.

Requirements

  • Must have innovative mindset with passion for novel solution development and business acumen in the field of electric drives and energy conversion systems

  • Demonstrated experience of product engineering including strategy-concept-design-& production.

  • Excellent communication skills with strong believer in strength of global collaboration.

  • Build, Grow & Maintain a team of highly skilled experts in the field of electrification (motor, inverter, power electronics and power conversion)

  • Self-driven attitude with curiosity for engineering excellence, must have an attitude to learn and grow. Must have a proven record of leadership, issue resolution, conflict management, performance appraisal & communication.

  • Utilize fundamental skills in electrical and mechatronics engineering with a passion for electric mobility and automotive engineering.

  • Collaborate with competence centers for Electric Machines, Power electronics, Software and Driveline in developing future product vision and product demonstration ideas.

  • Identify advanced product engineering key-indicators and benchmark technologies in electric mobility and develop engineering solutions to enhance the existing product features and demonstrate future product features.

  • Leverage verified history of leadership in achieving strong business results in automotive electrification field of engineering.

  • Lead global teams and programs with diligence, shall possess broad skills

    • Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems, traction electric machines, traction inverters, DCDC converters, and On-Board chargers.

    • Strong understanding of power-transfer systems such as gears, differentials, power-flow layout, fluid dynamics and thermal management

    • Strong understanding of automotive network communication and torque management.

    • Strong understanding in physics-based modelling in MATLAB and Simulink environment.

    • Strong understanding of data analysis and report generation.

    • Strong understanding of electric vehicle torque and energy management schemes.

    • Good understanding of testing, standards and certification processes for electric vehicle, electric drive, and power conversion systems.

    • Strong understanding of automotive vehicle engineering basics (Materials, Mechanisms, Physics and System mechanics).

    • Strong understanding of vehicle control systems and energy optimization methods.

  • Execute program with strong program planning and program management methodologies.

  • Represent BorgWarner in technology forums, conferences and engineering events.

  • Utilize technical skills and communication skills to articulate complex engineering problems.

  • Lead program relying on experience in writing product requirements and executing engineering work through product development V-cycle to manage leadership of the program.

  • Manage engineering budget for the group at our facility in Shanghai – China Technical Center

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Automotive engineering

  • Experience of innovation leadership in automotive industry

  • Data analysis and an Analytical approach to problem solving.

  • Skilled in using MS office tools such as Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Visio        

  • 12+ years of automotive industry experience.

  • Strong believer in global collaboration
