Position Overview
The Manager, Talent Acquisition leads and delivers equitable, high-quality recruitment and hiring processes that support City Year’s mission, workforce plans, and organizational needs. This role partners closely with hiring managers and site leaders to help them execute full-cycle recruitment, through maintaining consistent standards, systems adoption, and strong candidate experiences across the organization.
For high-volume positions and sites experiencing capacity issues, the Manager, Talent Acquisition will be responsible for the day to day execution of hiring processes.
The MTA will report to the Managing Director of Talent Acquisition.
The MTA will work remotely.
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 years of talent acquisition experience, including designing and leading full‑cycle recruitment strategies for multi‑site or high‑volume organizations
- Authorized documentation to work in the United States of America
- Criminal background history clearance to work with school-age children, depending on the position
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience recruiting in a nonprofit, education, social impact, or mission‑driven organization, particularly within multi‑site or national structures
- Experience conducting resume and phone screens at scale
- Experience in navigating Applicant Tracking System to screen and steward candidates
- Experience using Workday or similar applicant tracking systems
Responsibilities
The MTA will perform the following roles and responsibilities as described below:
Direct Talent Acquisition
MTA will perform the following responsibilities for high-volume positions or for hiring managers with limited hiring capacity:
- Partner with People Business Partners and hiring managers to clarify role requirements, qualifications, and selection criteria for position
- Design hiring strategy and timeline for position
- Conduct resume screens and phone screens
- Support hiring managers by training and/or sharing critical hiring resources such as interview questions, trainings on candidate experience, etc.
- Support development of onboarding plan
Org-wide Hiring Practices and Systems
- Equip hiring managers with tools, training, and guidance to support manager-owned hiring decisions within established guardrails.
- Ensure hiring managers have access to resources explaining consistent and equitable interview, assessment, and selection practices across sites and teams.
- Maintain job description bank for critical enterprise-wide roles
Systems, Data & Process Excellence
- Use Workday to manage requisitions, candidates, and hiring workflows, ensuring data accuracy and compliance
- Track and analyze recruiting metrics (time to fill, source effectiveness, diversity indicators) to inform improvements.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, consistency, and hiring manager adoption.

Physical requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally stand or walk
- Manual dexterity for typing, writing, and handling office equipment
- Visual acuity to read screens and printed materials
- Hearing ability to participate in conversations and respond to phone calls
- Occasional lifting or carrying of items up to 10–20 lbs (e.g., office supplies)
- Ability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and in writing
Working Conditions
- Operates in a remote environment using standard office equipment.
- May require occasional travel to company events
- Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with occasional extended hours as needed.
- Must have reliable internet access for remote or flexible work arrangements.
Compensation
Compensation: $50,000-$65,000 Annually Commensurate with Experience and Location
