What is the Opportunity?

As a critical member of the Payments & Trade Supplier Management team, the Manager, Supplier Technology will have the opportunity to drive impact across the enterprise while safeguarding RBC and RBC clients. From this unique position, you will be able to collaborate and provide value across the RBC enterprise including business lines, product, payments, technology groups, and RBC clients.  

In this role, you will manage the technical relationship with Symcor, an RBC Tier 1 Vendor. This includes oversight of technical controls, information security protocols, connectivity setups, data transmissions, firewall rules, user access permissions, certificates, and maintenance. In addition, the role includes the opportunity to drive material enterprise digital strategies such as technical framework optimization, digitization of services, and enhancement of client deliverables.

What will you do? 

  • Primary liaison between Symcor and RBC stakeholders for all technical matters, including day-to-day support, incident management, and change management
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes of new applications/technologies
  • Provide oversight of technology controls, information security protocols, connectivity, and data transmission between RBC and Symcor
  • Co-ordinate the validation of firewall rules, certificate updates, user access permission, infrastructure upgrades, technology end-of-life transition and maintenance schedules.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in audit, business continuity planning, and compliance matters
  • Primary escalation for technology related Symcor incident records. Responsible to provide timely support and guidance to Symcor and RBC Stakeholders (Business, IT, Operations).
  • Manage incidents involving potential financial loss, client impact or privacy breaches with urgency and actively pursue resolution to minimize risk of loss and client impact
  • Accountable to facilitate the change management process between Symcor and RBC Partners (Business, IT, Operations).
  • Ensure timely and effective communication between RBC and Symcor.
  • Manage collaboration amongst Symcor and RBC to promote effective communication, clarity in responsibilities, and alignment of strategic expectations and priorities
  • Identify opportunities that improve efficiencies, reduce costs, enhance the client experience and increase shareholder value

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • 3+ years of technology experience in a financial institution or technology company.
  • Strong understanding of banking operations and underlying technologies
  • Ability to foster effective collaboration and interaction across multiple groups and disciplines
  • Above average analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Capable of handling complex issues, balancing strategic thinking and tactical skills

Nice to have

  • Understanding of Symcor Services, including Client Statement Production and/or Cheque Processing services
  • Proven success at driving deliverables to completion, exercising effective change management strategies and tactics
  • Anticipates and delivers innovative business solutions that demonstrate a deep understanding of clients’ and business partners’ short-and-long term needs
  • Professional maturity to deal with senior managers/executives
