We are seeking an operationally strong engineering leader who will lead:
the NF Web Platform (ISC/SSC) critical to servicing members and distribution partners
the NF Digital Marketplace team with the vision of making it amazingly easy for our partners to discover and consume our digital and data products and to meet them where they are. This role is central to the Partner Ecosystem technology priority, with high visibility across NF business and technology leadership
The ideal candidate combines deep run/operations expertise with product-centric platform leadership and innovation focus. They will extend and amplify the platform-as-a-product work already in motion while attracting, developing, and retaining top engineering talent.
1. Web Platform Ownership (ISC/SSC)
Serve as platform owner for the NF web platform (ISC/SSC), accountable for overall run health, stability, and resiliency.
Lead incident management and operations in partnership with SRE and MSA teams, maintaining strong performance against NF’s Enterprise Stability Objective.
Own the run backlog and prioritization cadence, tying platform work into Ops Reviews and Risk Reviews to make run work visible, sequenced, and predictable rather than reactive.
Oversee vulnerability remediation and security improvements, driving coordinated, multi-team efforts (e.g., vendor SOWs) to reduce risk and close findings at scale.
Drive CI/CD modernization and engineering productivity (e.g., decommissioning legacy pipelines, consolidating to GitHub Actions, optimizing test suites and runtime).
Extend NF’s leading SRE practices by taking SLO governance, observability, proactive monitoring, and health checks for ISC/SSC and related web properties to the next level. Partner with architecture, security, infrastructure, and vendor teams to ensure reliability, performance, and compliance across the platform.
2. NF Digital Marketplace & Partner Platform
Lead the NF Digital Marketplace team (The Whalers line), enabling and scaling NF Digital products
Own and advance the Partner Platform / Digital Marketplace roadmap, ensuring we continue to deliver impactful capabilities for internal and external partners.
Collaborate closely with business segment areas (BSAs), BRMs, and product leaders to evangelize the digital platform, ensuring new digital products adhere to platform standards and are registered/packaged for EDP consumption.
Operationalize Partner Express processes so Business Relationship Managers and partners have clear ownership, SLAs, intake, and execution paths.
3. Product-as-a-Platform & Operating Model Leadership
Extend and deepen the platform-as-a-product mindset within NF Digital Servicing.
Contribute to and evolve playbooks, patterns, and reusable approaches for platform teams; help other groups understand how to adopt platform/product thinking.
Ensure platform roadmaps balances run health, risk reduction, and feature enablement, with clear metrics, outcomes, and financial stewardship.
Partner with product, architecture, and portfolio leaders to align on priorities, sequencing, and value realization from platform investments.
4. Innovation, AI, and Future-Readiness
Maintain a future-focused view of digital platforms and marketplaces, including AI and AIOps opportunities to improve operations, observability, and developer experience.
Explore and pilot new capabilities (e.g., AI-assisted run operations, intelligent alerting, self-service experiences) in partnership with vendors and internal innovation teams.
Bring practical, experiment-driven innovation into the platform and marketplace roadmaps while maintaining strong run discipline.
5. People Leadership & Talent
Lead a combined organization that includes multiple product/platform teams (e.g., Technocats, The Whalers, MSA/SRE partners, vendor teams).
Attract, grow, and retain top technical talent, thoughtfully placing associates in roles where they can be successful and have clear growth paths.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Partners with leaders to ensure a viable total cost of ownership and ongoing health and wellness of applications.
Assists in the development and implementation of application suite roadmaps through the evaluation of business needs, competitive landscape, technology currency and information security considerations.
Manages risk mitigation controls and provides support for internal and external audits.
Supports the engineering build of the application suite and non technical efforts for the products.
Represents voice of the customer, acts in a forward-facing role to business partners as an active member of a portfolio management team in the advocation of business case development, planning, financial management and evaluation of portfolio.
Hire and develop talent, provide consistent coaching and feedback.
Responsible for delivery availability and resiliency following established operating mechanisms and best practices.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Technology Director or above. Leads a team of 5 or more technology professionals.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in management information systems, engineering, math, computer science or comparable experience and education preferred.
Experience: Six years of experience in application suite management with four years or more leading numerous teams across multiple technologies. Proven experience in empowering and building an engaged team.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Detailed understanding and knowledge of the systems development life cycle and modern methodologies, practices, tools, and techniques. Solid understanding of concepts and techniques in project delivery, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis. Ability to develop and implement roadmap strategies. Proven decision-making and problem-solving skills. Coaching and career development of team. Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge is a plus.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
