SUMMARY
To manage Social Work Services and supervise the Social Work staff, including Medicaid Specialists, office support, and interpreters. Responsible for the quality of the service. Supports hospital and department policies and goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides supervision for Social Workers, Home Health Coordinators, and office support
Demonstrates knowledge and adherence to the organization’s personnel policies and Social Work Services policies.
Demonstrates ability to impart the above policies to supervisees and staff.
Monitor job performance of supervisees throughout the year through staff meetings, chart review, and observation.
Participates in decision-making regarding scheduling available coverage of vacancies.
Initiates staff hiring, disciplinary action, performance appraisals, and individual counseling.
Screens applicants within a reasonable period of receiving resumes for openings.
Assures orientation is provided to new staff.
Assures new employees complete the mandatory inservices.
Completes performance appraisals annually and competencies.
Follows Human Resource policies for the disciplinary process.
Provides management to Social Work Services.
Revises and reviews service policies as needed, at least at every 3 years.
Appropriately develops and administers service budgets.
Manager or designee acts as hospital liaison and maintains good working relationship with the certified home care agencies.
Provides leadership in the planning and achievement of the goals and objectives of Social Work Services.
Demonstrates strong communication skills to assure forthright, effective communication among and between staff members.
Participates in management training opportunities offered.
Coordinates the Quality Improvement program of the Service.
Coordinates or conducts Quality Improvement studies annually in order to assure the quality of social work interventions with patients and families.
Develops action plans for follow-up from Quality Improvement studies and communicates such plans to the staff.
Attends or designates a representative to the Quality Improvement Committee and actively participates as observed by committee members.
Acts as Service liaison to various community organizations.
Maintains good working relationships with long term care facilities and community agencies as demonstrated through feedback from these sources.
Participates in community task forces and committees.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Social Work or equivalent
5 years of increasingly responsible experience within the field of social work, preferably in a hospital setting.
Strong analytical, computer, and communication skills
Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
New York license in Social Work to be obtained within one year of hire.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
