A bit about your role

The Manager, Security Risk reports to the Executive Manager, Security Risk & Assurance within the GRC & Advisory Services team and plays a key role in overseeing nbn’s Line 2 security risk and assurance program. This position leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the security risk strategy, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, and reported to support informed decision-making.

The role is responsible for operationalising the Telecommunications Security Risk Management Program (TSRMP), ensures compliance with the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act, and delivers the next evolution of risk quantification using the FAIR model. Working collaboratively across nbn, the Manager engages stakeholders, aligns with assurance functions, and drives a positive culture in security risk management to achieve consistent, reliable outcomes.

A bit about you

The ideal candidate is an experienced security professional with at least five years in security, assurance, or risk management. They bring strong analytical and reporting skills, can navigate ambiguity in complex structures, and translate technical security concepts into clear business language. Experience with control frameworks such as PSPF, ACSC ISM, Essential 8, or NIST CSF is essential, along with a solid understanding of security threats and the ability to design and deliver security programs. Excellent communication, influencing, and time management skills are required to achieve outcomes within set timeframes.
