Key Position Details:

  • 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period)
  • 8-hour day shifts
  • No weekends
  • This position supports multiple locations, with primary responsibility at United Hospital -St. Paul and additional oversight of River Falls and Regina Hospitals

Job Description:

Manages security operations to include development, facilitation, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures and programs. Maintains regulatory and government compliance. Partners with site leadership on planning, implementation and monitoring day to day security operations.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Manages security department to include leadership of people and operations.
    • Oversees and has responsibility for employees in the department to include onboarding, training, development, and performance management.
    • Collaborates on the development of, communicates and implements security programs and strategic vision.
    • Maintains policies and procedures for function and ensures compliance with regulatory and government agencies.
    • Conducts audits and assessments, formulates conclusions and makes recommendations.
    • Partners with internal stakeholders utilizing data for process improvement.
    • May coordinate programs and other initiatives to reduce security-related incidents and mitigate risk.
    • Facilitates and participates on site committees to include safety data and emergency preparedness.
    • Establishes and maintains relationships with local, state and federal public service agencies.
    • Coordinates and participates in special event planning and/or incidents.
    • Partners in the development and facilitator of emergency response drills and exercises.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Business, Project Management, Psychology, Sociology, or related field within 36 months of hire
  • 3+ years in security, emergency services, military, law enforcement or related field
  • 3+ years of direct leadership in the field of healthcare security, protective services, emergency services, military, law enforcement, healthcare or related field


Licenses/Certifications

  • FEMA100-Intro to Incident Command System - FEMA Management institute required within 1 year of hire
  • FEMA200-ICS Single Res-Initial Action - FEMA Management institute required within 1 year of hire
  • FEMA700-Natl Inc Mgmt System-Intro - FEMA Management institute required within 1 year of hire
  • Valid Driver’s License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence
  • Board Certified Protection Professional by the American Society for Industrial Security International Association of Hospital Safety and Security preferred
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) preferred
  • Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI) preferred

Pay Range

Pay Range: $44.64 to $61.76 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience and education. Additional incentives may be available, including discretionary monetary bonuses, goal-based bonuses, and other financial incentives.
