A day in the life of a Regional Accounting Manager (Revenue Accounting) at VF looks a little like this.

The Regional Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing revenue accounting activities across multiple brands and channels within a publicly traded, multi‑brand organization. This role ensures accurate, consistent, and compliant revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP (ASC 606), supports period‑end close, and acts as a key business partner to Commercial, Sales, FP&A, and Operations teams.

The role requires strong technical accounting expertise, operational rigor, and the ability to lead and develop a regional revenue accounting team while navigating complex business models (e.g., wholesale, DTC, e‑commerce, licensing, and intercompany transactions).

Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.

Revenue Accounting and Technical Leadership

  • Partner with Corporate Accounting and External Reporting teams to support quarterly and annual SEC reporting requirements.

Controls, Compliance & Audit

  • Maintain and enhance internal controls related to revenue recognition, ensuring proper documentation, execution, and audit readiness.
  • Act as the primary revenue accounting contact for internal and external audits, supporting walkthroughs, testing, and issue resolution.
  • Identify control gaps or process inefficiencies and drive remediation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Business Partnership & Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Commercial, Sales Operations, FP&A, Legal, and IT teams on revenue‑impacting initiatives, system changes, and new go‑to‑market strategies.
  • Support pricing, contract reviews, and deal structuring by providing accounting input on revenue implications.
  • Proactively communicate revenue risks, emerging issues, and accounting impacts to regional and corporate leadership

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage, coach, and develop a regional revenue accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Set clear expectations, review work output, and provide ongoing performance feedback.
  • Support talent development, succession planning, and knowledge sharing across brands and regions.
