About this opportunity:

Cenovus is seeking a Manager, Process Engineering for the Superior Refinery to lead a team of chemical engineers and the Laboratory Supervisor in providing technical stewardship of refinery operations. This role supports operations through process optimization, capital projects, hazard analyses, and initiatives that improve efficiency, reliability, and yields, while collaborating with other Cenovus sites to advance best practices. The Manager also oversees laboratory resources to ensure the quality and integrity of analytical data. This is a key leadership position with a direct impact on refinery performance and business profitability, carried out in alignment with the COIMS (Cenovus Operational Integrity Management Systems) framework.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Process Engineers and the Laboratory Supervisor, including the development and implementation of training and succession planning.

  • Ensure that Process Engineering and the Laboratory is fully engaged in supporting the refinery’s process safety and occupational safety programs. 

  • Ensure collaboration with other departments (Operations, Maintenance, and HS&E) to ensure alignment on priorities, providing high-quality technical support and recommendations.

  • Create a long-term plan and identify a portfolio of projects to increase refinery yields, efficiency and reliability, utilizing benchmarking studies, key performance indicators and other industry data.

  • Liaise with other Cenovus facilities to share best practices and jointly develop technical solutions to common problems, ensuring outcomes meet current and future business needs.

  • Develop and manage annual budgets that support the provision of adequate operational and capital expenditures to achieve refinery objectives.

Who you are:

  • Legally authorized to work in the US

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering

  • 12+ years of work experience, including experience in process operations and/or process engineering in the refining industry or equivalent.

  • Process design experience including operations technical support, troubleshooting, optimization, and process modeling and simulations.
