Position Overview:
Reporting to the Operations Director, the Operations Manager is a strategic partner on the Operations Leadership Team, identifying market trends, threats and opportunities. This position is responsible for managing and overseeing the Receiving and Selection functions in our Warehouse Operations.
The Operations Manager will provide leadership and guidance to the Warehouse Team whose overall objectives are:
To ensure we have the depth and breadth of talent and capability to be a great business.
To ensure our Warehouse focus and action plans are directly aligned with the overall Organizational Vision and Strategy.
To ensure that GFS Culture and Climate are a focus and that strategy discussion and decisions include how changes will impact the Culture and Cornerstone Values.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Ensure high quality and accurate order selection for all customers, and establish and maintain productivity standards for all shift job functions to maximize team efficiency.
Oversees the performance of the receiving and selection teams and works with the leadership groups to optimize efficiency and promote an effective, safe, and professional team environment.
Address performance management/coaching, staff recognition and future succession planning (Performance Reviews & Development Plans, Team Member Coaching, Discipline Issues and Performance Improvement Plans).
Responsible for overseeing the recruitment, training, and development functions of the Selection department. Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiates follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department.
Participate actively and create team goals, help team members to complete tasks, provide team members with constructive feedback, provide mentorship to team members, and delegate workload as needed.
May be responsible for special departmental projects (ie. cost-containment, new service offerings, injury reduction, etc.). Identifies project scope and steps to determine resources (human and equipment) required.
Assists in the preparation of an annual budget. Monitors the budget on a monthly basis, identifies variances in actual costs versus budgeted costs and identifies methods for reducing costs.
Responsible for the effective implementation and adherence to the Operations health and safety program.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
3 years of leadership experience in a manager role.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and good organizational and problem solving skills to represent the department, and speak at company functions.
Must have strong team building and leadership skills, effectively being able to promote and maintain relationships with colleagues.
Must have the ability to multitask, prioritize and be able to work independently or within a team environment.
Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, email and internet software applications.
Strong understanding of measuring, monitoring and improving operational metrics.
Demonstrated focus on continuous improvement.
