Responsible for all aspects of staff management, departmental management, and for creating a professional practice environment that focuses on safe, effective patient care as well as customer service.  Supervises and directs the operational activities of the department. Organizes and coordinates pharmacy staff activities to meet the responsibilities of the department, including pharmacy related automation and software used in daily operations.  Assists the Director of Pharmacy in enforcing the organization’s policies and procedures for the receipt, storage, preparation, dispensing and disposal of pharmaceuticals. Additionally, responsible for carrying out the duties of the Director in their absence. 

Administrative responsibilities include planning, coordinating, organizing, monitoring and implementing all activities in area of responsibility and employee performance management. Maintains efficient and effective department operation, which includes compliance with and requiring employee compliance with all state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards, protocols and licensing or certification standards

Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations. Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.

Will perform all job duties or job tasks as assigned. Will follow and adhere to all requirements, regulations and procedures of any licensing board or agency. Must comply with all Benefis Health System’s organization policies and procedures.

Education/License/Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate of a School of Pharmacy with BS Pharmacy or PharmD degree
  • Current Pharmacist licensure in the State of Montana
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a healthcare system preferred.
