Specific Job Requirements
Working under minimal direction, this position functions as a responder to non-complex and complex medical inquiries from healthcare professionals, consumers and employees on both marketed products and those in clinical development. Medical information is provided in a timely manner using corporate documents and up-to-date literature. Routine responsibilities will include:
Providing written or verbal responses to healthcare professionals, consumers, and employees requesting medical/product information regarding Gilead’s products and therapeutic areas
Maintaining a record of all information dissemination via a Medical Information database
Recognizing, obtaining pertinent data on, and accurately transmitting any reported adverse events or product complaints to the appropriate internal departments in a timely manner
Working collaboratively with the field-based Medical Science teams to ensure appropriate follow-up with healthcare professionals occurs when indicated
Providing coverage for Medical Information booth at medical conferences.
Developing departmental metrics and procedures (e.g. work practice)
This position may be asked to mentor junior Medical Information staff. Knowledge and appreciation of all applicable regulatory and legal requirements for Medical Affairs activities is essential, as is accountability for serving as a role model for others in line with Gilead’s Core Values.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree with 7+ years of relevant experience
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, as well as excellent customer service skills are required.
Must have a broad knowledge and thorough understanding of products and diseases that allow for independent provision of complex information that is accurate and meets all regulatory requirements.
Thorough grounding in clinical pharmacotherapy is essential.
Must be able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal departments.
Knowledge of industry Medical Information common practices, adverse event and product complaint reporting is needed.
Experience in a Medical Information department in the pharmaceutical industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experienced in at least one of the therapeutic areas Gilead is engaged in.
An advanced HCP degree or university degree in life sciences and solid relevant experience with previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
