The Manager Marketing Automation & Communications will lead the design and advancement of Progress Residential’s automated marketing and resident communication programs. This role will focus on leveraging marketing automation and emerging AI capabilities to deliver personalized, timely, and relevant messages across the resident journey — from prospect to long-term resident. 

This position will play a key role in advancing how Progress engages residents and prospects through intelligent automation, data-driven decision making, and continual optimization. The Manager will guide a small team responsible for executing marketing automation strategies, ensuring communications are aligned with brand standards, business priorities, and resident experience goals. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the planning, development, and execution of automated communications (email, SMS, push, and other digital channels) that engage residents and prospects throughout the leasing lifecycle.

  • Introduce and oversee the use of AI and advanced analytics to personalize messaging, predict resident needs, and optimize engagement.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams—including Marketing, Technology, Operations, and Resident Experience—to design seamless, data-informed customer journeys.

  • Manage the ongoing optimization of Salesforce Marketing Cloud and related martech tools to drive operational efficiency and campaign performance.

  • Champion a culture of testing and learning by implementing structured experimentation (A/B, multivariate, and predictive testing) to enhance campaign effectiveness.

  • Develop governance processes to ensure all campaigns meet compliance, privacy, and brand standards.

  • Build dashboards and performance reporting to evaluate campaign success, channel effectiveness, and resident engagement outcomes.

  • Collaborate with internal creative and technology teams to identify automation opportunities that reduce manual workload and improve communication quality.

  • Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance on automation strategy, execution excellence, and professional growth.

  • Stay current on marketing technology, AI trends, and industry best practices to inform Progress’s marketing innovation roadmap.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Information Systems, or related field.

  • 6+ years of experience in digital or lifecycle marketing, with at least 2 years in a leadership or people management role.

  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar automation platforms, including journey building, segmentation, and triggered communications.

  • Proven ability to apply data insights and AI tools to enhance personalization, engagement, and campaign performance.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.

  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills; capable of building partnerships across marketing, operations, and IT functions.

  • Passion for innovation and resident experience — bringing creativity and curiosity to improve how Progress communicates with residents and prospects.

  • Salesforce certifications or advanced automation credentials preferred.
