Northrop Grumman’s Legislative Affairs organization is seeking a Manager to lead third party engagements and advocacy strategy and implementation.
Reporting to the Director of Legislative Affairs for Policy, Political and Advocacy Affairs, the Manager is responsible for developing and executing external engagement strategies in support of Northrop Grumman programs and priorities; internal company coordination in support of advocacy events; and collaboration with suppliers, third party organizations, and other external stakeholders. The individual will be required to engage and develop relationships with a variety of elected officials, suppliers / partners, state and local leaders, and third parties.
This position can be located in the Falls Church, VA corporate office, or the Washington DC office, with the ability to work in Falls Church, VA as necessary.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline, and at least 8+ years of experience in government relations, legislative, communications, or advocacy activities.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain internal and external relationships related to aerospace and defense and/or political affairs
Excellent written and oral communications skills, and the proven ability to take large amounts of information and synthesize key messages in fast paced environment.
Experience communicating with federal leaders and key decision makers is required.
Experience executing advocacy strategy, collaborating effectively across teams, as well as demonstrated ability to set and meet objectives while reacting to dynamic environments are a must.
A high level of integrity and a hands-on approach to problem solving are required, as well as a professional presence for interacting with public policy decision makers and company executives.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven ability to synthesize complex problems/public policy issues while identifying their related business implications and advocacy approaches.
Ability to operate and manage teams working in fast paced environments and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills and political acumen.
A strong commitment and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment is paramount.
The demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships with others.
Knowledge of the budget, legislative process, authorization process, and appropriations process.
Experience collaborating across business areas, third parties, and suppliers.
Active Top Secret clearance is preferred.
