[What the role is]
We are looking for a self-driven and adaptable individual with a passion for horticulture and community engagement to join the Jurong Lake Gardens (JLG) team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day horticultural operations and maintenance of JLG, while also contributing to the OneMillionTrees (OMT) movement as part of Singapore's City in Nature vision. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will help to coordinate, organise and implement tree-planting and related activities to promote the OneMillionTrees movement. This role requires someone equally comfortable working in the outdoors as they are analysing data and generating insights — bridging hands-on garden management with meaningful community outreach.[What you will be working on]
Horticulture & Operations
You will oversee the horticultural operations of JLG, ensuring the garden is maintained to a high standard of landscape design and maintenance, ecological sustainability, and safety. This includes supervising plant selection, maintenance, and tree inspections; conducting routine performance assessments of the landscape; managing a team of maintenance staff and providing them with guidance and training; visitor engagement such as volunteer management and implementing horticulture-based programmes; and ensuring compliance with safety regulations, including regular inspections of playground and fitness equipment. You will also manage horticultural budgets and procurement of supplies, equipment, and plant materials, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders such as government agencies and allotment gardeners.
OneMillionTrees Movement
You will support the OMT Secretariat in coordinating tree-planting activities and promoting community participation in the movement. This includes assisting with upstream planning and coordination of tree-planting sites, conducting outreach and education activities such as roadshows and talks, and developing and managing volunteers for tree-planting events. You will also track and monitor engagement activities, analyse OMT data using tools such as Power BI and Qlik Sense, and draft reports for management.

Proven experience in horticultural management, with a strong understanding of plant care, landscape design, and maintenance practices

Possess a keen interest in nature conservation and outreach
Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills with the ability to influence and motivate others
An organised, adaptable and resourceful team player who is able to work independently
Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
