Northbridge Financial

Manager Finance (12-Month Contract/Secondment)

Toronto, ON Full time

What it’s like to be a Northbridge Finance Manager (Reinsurance)

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you’ll play a highly visible and strategically important role within our Finance organization. You’ll oversee the accounting and reporting activities related to our reinsurance programs — areas that require accuracy, strong judgment, and a solid understanding of insurance operations. Your leadership ensures the effectiveness, reliability, and compliance of these essential financial functions. You will also lead cross-functional projects from a finance perspective.

You’ll guide a team of skilled professionals, supporting their development while providing direction on reinsurance reporting, capital management, audit coordination, stakeholder communication, and financial statement preparation. Your ability to connect financial results to business drivers, build strong working relationships, and deliver high‑quality reporting will make you a trusted partner across the business.

We want your talent!

If you are great at:

  • Leading and motivating high‑performing teams

  • Communicating clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment

  • Working independently while collaborating with stakeholders at every level

  • Analyzing complex data and identifying key issues

  • Fostering strong working relationships across internal and external groups

  • Coaching, mentoring, and delegating effectively

And you have:

  • A CPA designation or equivalent

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful exposure to reinsurance

  • 3+ years of managerial experience

  • Deep knowledge of insurance accounting (premiums, losses, reinsurance, investments)

  • Strong proficiency with Excel, Microsoft Office, and experience with accounting/insurance systems and BI tools

  • A university degree in a financial or related field

  • Experience reviewing or preparing financial reporting, including regulatory filings and note disclosures

  • Experience with audit coordination and stakeholder communication

We really mean it when we say we put you first. Here are a few ways how:

  • Hybrid work! You get to work from the office and at home 50/50, allowing you to manage both worlds with the ease and flexibility you need.

  • We help you prioritize your well‑being from day one through early leave days, wellness programs, rewards, and recognition programs.

  • We are invested in helping you grow your career through education assistance to complete your CIP, FCIP, CRM or other courses, internal mobility, leadership training, and mentoring programs.

  • NBFC cares about the community and supports the causes you believe in with donation matching and team volunteer days.

We’re committed to pay transparency and fairness. The base salary range for this role is $100,000–$130,000, reflecting expected base pay — not the total compensation package. Actual base salary may vary depending on your experience, skills, and alignment with the position. We’re also open to candidates at different levels, so if this range doesn’t quite match your expectations, don’t let that hold you back — we’d still love to hear from you.

This is a real opportunity — we’re actively hiring! If the role sounds like a good fit, we encourage you to apply. Beyond base pay, we offer a robust Total Rewards program that includes benefits, wellness support, and other meaningful perks.

We also want to be transparent about our hiring process. While one of our systems includes AI capabilities, over 99% of our screening is done by real people. We believe in thoughtful, human‑centered hiring decisions and are committed to giving every application the attention it deserves.
