Reporting to the Senior Environmental Manager, the Manager, Environmental provides leadership and oversight for all environmental activities within the Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) team. This role ensures regulatory compliance and supports continuous improvement in environmental performance across our projects.
The Manager, Environmental brings strong expertise in environmental regulations, standards, and industry best practices. You will oversee day to day environmental operations, manage project specific contractual obligations, develop strategic guidance and documentation, and build strong working relationships with clients, third party stakeholders, and internal operations teams to support environmental sustainability and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities
- Oversee day‑to‑day environmental operations and ensure projects comply with applicable legislation, permits, approvals, and environmental management systems.
- Conduct environmental aspects assessments, implement mitigation measures, and support project teams in meeting environmental program requirements.
- Lead environmental monitoring, inspections, and corrective action close‑out, ensuring documentation and follow‑up meet regulatory and contractual expectations.
- Prepare and submit environmental plans, reports, and all required documentation to regulatory bodies and project leadership.
- Track and report on project‑specific environmental Key Performance Indicators, ensuring issues are identified early and addressed effectively.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching to Environmental Coordinators and Leads, supporting technical development, performance goals, and continuous improvement.
- Deliver and support environmental training, awareness sessions, toolbox talks, and knowledge‑sharing initiatives across project teams.
- Serve as the primary liaison with environmental consultants, clients, and regulatory authorities, ensuring expectations are met and communication is clear and timely.
- Lead environmental working group meetings and provide updates as required to internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee inspection resources, manage non‑conformances, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified.
- Support project leadership in demonstrating compliance with all contractual environmental commitments and requirements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of environmental management experience, ideally within the construction industry, including hands‑on experience with erosion and sedimentation control.
- Diploma in Environmental Technology, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Biology, Geography, Forestry, Agriculture, or a related discipline (Bachelors Degree Preferred)
- Additional professional certifications are an asset, including:
CAN‑CISEC, ISO 14001, CPESC, RP/P.Bio, P.Ag, P.Eng, P.Chem, or other recognized environmental designations. - Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring technical staff and implementing environmental programs.
- Experience working with clients, regulatory bodies, and third‑party environmental consultants (preferred).
- Experience with environmental assessments, permitting, and compliance management
Compensation
$104,400.00 - $139,200.00
This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.
