Manager- Enterprise Data Management

The Enterprise Data Team within M&G plc is mobilising a number of initiatives around data management to maximise the value of our data and to mitigate data risks. The key initiatives include adoption of an enterprise-wide data catalogue, roll-out of Data quality tooling and marketplace across business areas. The implementation of the data management tooling will ensure the data used within the organisation is understood, fit-for-purpose and easily discoverable to strengthen our data governance capabilities, improve regulatory compliance and reduce the inaccuracy or misuse of data across the organisation.

The key part of this role is to work with Data owners, data stewards and the business/technology teams  to populate data catalogue, create data quality rules and support any other data management activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with data stewards and business/technical SMEs to assist in creating and documenting business glossary definitions for their respective data domains and projects
• Work with strategic programmes and projects to identify Critical Data elements, capture technical metadata of the impacted data items, assess data quality and create data quality rules
• Provide Quality assurance on the content that resides within the strategic data catalogue solution for the assigned business area or data domain
• Support Product Owner and data stewards in deriving metrics relevant to adoption of Data catalogue and data quality by the wider organisation
• Develop and maintain user guides for the data management tools, customise demos to suit various audiences and resolve tooling related queries – be the SME of relevant tooling and data management expert for the corresponding business area

Experience statement

Key experience of the successful candidate will include:

• Practical experience of working in a data governance/management team at a significant organisation for 4+ years
• A deep understanding of the core capabilities and principles within data management – Metadata management, Data Privacy, Data Quality, Data Governance, Data Strategy
• Hands-on experience creating high-quality business glossary definitions and capturing metadata and data lineage
• Hands-on experience creating DQ rules and assessing the quality of data across DQ dimensions
• Working experience in one or more data management tools – Informatica Axon/IDQ/EDC, Collibra, Datactics, Microsoft Purview
• Good knowledge of SQL to query and analyse datasets
• Experience working with a range of stakeholders across business and technolgy, managing relationships, and flexing approach to support data stewards and projects that are at different levels of data maturity and priorities
• Effective time management, prioritisation and organisational skills that ensures deadlines are met
• Demonstrate passion and enthusiasm to learn and make a real difference
• Experience working in financial services / insurance industry (Desirable)
