Job Description
The Manager of Course Publication will lead and develop a team within WGU’s Program Development department to manage the timely and accurate publication of WGU products (including curriculum and assessments) to WGU curriculum and assessment delivery systems. This individual supports WGU student success and satisfaction by ensuring that WGU and industry quality standards are applied by team members and aligned with departmental goals and objectives. The manager will effectively influence change in a highly matrixed organization while ensuring timelines and objectives of departmental strategies and initiatives are met in a timely manner.
Location: This position will be located in our Salt Lake City, UT office, 4 days a week, with 1 day remote.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Manages a team of professionals in publishing WGU products to delivery systems in accordance with established quality assurance processes
- Maintains and communicates the publication processes to ensure accurate and timely product handoffs and delivery to students
- Gathers and reviews assessment system data and makes recommendations for innovative improvements to the user experience
- Coordinates publication projects for multiple colleges to publish new content, in collaboration with the project management team, ensuring publication volumes and deadlines are met
- Ensures quality assurance processes are undertaken to ensure accurate and functional publication of products
- Provides input to the project management team leadership to develop or refine project management procedures and processes
- Develops and maintains relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders for delivery systems
- Manages an internal system that coordinates various production tasks and teams, using quantitative data to execute improvements to process and practice
- Monitors and reports publication team capacity status, including risks, issues affecting publication schedule, and milestone achievements
- Implements strategic initiatives to support projected Program Development growth
- Contributes to and recommends best practices and changes in technology related to the performance of Program Development initiatives, making independent decisions that align with department strategies
- Ensures overall quality, consistency, and functionality of all work by team members to ensure a high level of performance and engagement of all team members
- Provides measurable feedback to direct reports and coaching to improve performance
- Works with cross-functional teams to ensure collaboration among team members
- Holds direct reports accountable to performance metrics
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a similar field
- 4 years of professional experience
- 1+ years leading and managing people, teams, or projects
- 1 year of project management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a similar field
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
- Understanding of higher education, WGU, and program development preferred
- Experience in IT and IT systems
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
