Job Description
As Manager, Commercial Finance and Economics, you will work as a member of the commercial finance and economics team on the financial and economic modelling and market characterization of utility-scale energy projects for renewables, thermal and transmission.
The commercial finance and economics team conducts all project opportunity scoping, managing financial models and analysis, budgeting, and, crucially, project management and coordination with other internal stakeholders as well as external financing and regulatory stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for development of valuation models to analyze the economic merits and risks.
Responsible for managing and providing support to other members of the CFE team
Responsible for liaising with origination, development, finance and procurement team members to help develop the project business case and identification of commercial risks in areas such as: budgeting, revenue forecasting, structuring, business case analysis, land & property, DEVEX, CAPEX and OPEX in support of project activities both in the opportunity development phase up to NTP/FID.
Responsible for organizing and maintaining relevant market assumptions and structures for development projects including areas such as: leasing costs, bonding, tax, revenue mechanisms, power settlement and decommissioning liabilities.
Responsible for internal stakeholder management (e.g. finance and development) in the management of project financial models, and key financial metrics/indicators for the preparation of competitive bids for project revenue opportunities, including recommending pricing strategies and local content opportunities.
Responsible for assessing the integrity of economic, financial models, communicating the key drivers, leading the quantitative decision process for pricing and performing advanced analysis
Responsible for monitoring ongoing market conditions and structures and feeding-in risk mitigation opportunities to the development process
Insights gained from the above work will position the Manager to contribute to the overall project(s) and development strategy
Communicate with advisors, trade groups and legal counsels to improve financial and economic models and development strategy
Synthesize key findings and perform bespoke analyses as needed, and communicate findings to Invenergy’s senior management
Role provides broad exposure to all aspects of renewables, transmission and thermal projects development and strategy
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required in Business, Economics, Engineering, Accounting, or related field, Masters Degree preferred.
7+ years' experience from commercial or financial roles in industries such as energy, infrastructure, oil and gas, or real estate development.
Ability to develop complex financial and economic models
Ability to manage a team by communicating expectations, establishing priorities, overseeing performance, reviewing work, and providing feedback
Ability to train junior team members
Knowledge of budget preparation, implementation, and oversight
Excellent analytical, reporting presentation and communication skills
Advanced Excel skills (e.g. VBA, Pivot Tables, Vlookup, Conditional Formatting, and Charts) and strong Word/PowerPoint skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to assist/add value to the strategic and financial process for energy project development
Ability to communicate and interface effectively across multiple de-centralized teams, with strong prioritization, organizational, networking, leadership, time management, and interpersonal skills
Ability and confidence to identify questions which affect material market/ project assumptions and raise these to the offshore development team members
Ability to problem-solve and have strong analytical insights, including the ability to identify and communicate possible trade-offs and the balance of risk and reward
Ability to create effective communication materials to synthesize key insights for senior management and external partners, as required
Position will require interfacing with senior managers within the organization
Superior adaptability and willingness to perform new and unique analyses and other ad-hoc tasks fora number of projects, at different stages of development
Base Pay
129,000.00 - 149,000.00 USD Annual
Bonus: 25% - 40%
The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
