Job Summary: About the position: This is a NAF Career Program position assigned to Kadena AB, Okinawa Japan. This is a Regular Full Time (RFT) position with benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual/sick leave.

Major Duties:

  • Reports directly to the General Manager of the franchise restaurant. Ensure all food and beverages meet AF and franchise standards in taste, temperature, freshness, and appearance while adhering to AF and franchise programs and policies. Directly manage and coordinate subordinate personnel and food service activities of the restaurant. Keep all team members current on ongoing/upcoming promotions, business trends, and safety issues, and assists in any area needed to maintain a smoothly flowing restaurant/facility. Evaluates personnel's performance and provide feedback to keep them motivated and productive. Ensure that all health and safety standards are adhered to, and an appropriate work environment is maintained. Estimate food and beverage costs and ensure those costs are maintained within established parameters. Purchase and maintain and inventory supplies, equipment, food and beverages at a level that meets current business trends. Ensure supplies are used efficiently with minimal waste. Conduct inventories and estimate food and beverage costs based on historical data and market trends. Strict adherence to policies in customer service. Investigate and resolve food and beverage quality and service complaints. Implement, monitor, review, and evaluate menu items, food production, and food service. Supervise cleaning and maintenance of equipment and arranges for repair and other service as needed. Daily receipts are deposited correctly and cash banks are maintained and balanced daily. Properly handle emergencies or unusual occurrences and report them the General Manager. Provide guidance and direction to subordinates. Recognize potential problems and applies timely and effective remedies to ensure operational and financial stability. General Experience: Experience that shows progressively responsible administrative, professional, technical or other work which has provided a general knowledge of management principles and practices, OR progressively responsible experience in the functions managed by a manager of a full-service restaurant. Specialized Experience: In addition to general experience, applicant must have specialized experience gained in the operation or management of a government, institutional or civilian restaurant. Preferred Experience: Experience working in a management role with a name brand casual dining restaurant is preferred. Professional certification and/or accreditation in hospitality professional management areas is highly desirable.
