Weighbridge Clerk

Location: Hexham
Salary: £13.93ph

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and organised Weighbridge Clerk to oversee the daily operations of our weighbridge function and support the coordination of transport plans. This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth and efficient management of resources across our sites and depots, helping us maintain high operational standards and excellent service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process vehicles and resources efficiently on a daily basis.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date database records for all resource requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with the centralised transport plan.

  • Provide clear instructions to drivers and ensure adherence to procedures outlined in the driver’s folder.

  • Manage drivers on a day-to-day basis, supporting performance and addressing issues where necessary.

  • Liaise with other departments including maintenance, works teams and central planning offices to ensure seamless operations.

  • Maintain good industrial relations, including carrying out disciplinary procedures when required.

  • Ensure company vehicles remain clean and presentable both inside and out.

  • Conduct site inductions as required.

  • Follow all relevant IMS procedures in relation to work activities.

  • Record and support the investigation of customer complaints.

  • Ensure all drivers’ tachographs are analysed accurately and in a timely manner.

Role Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of transport legislation.

  • Proven ability to manage a team of drivers.

  • Competent IT skills, with the ability to use relevant systems and databases.

  • Good decision-making skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

  • Flexible, committed and reliable approach to work.

  • Knowledge of inert waste reception is desirable.
