Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Vehicle Engineering Section Manager 2 reporting to the Vehicle Engineering Integration and Execution (EI&E) Department Manager within the MDC2 portfolio of programs. This leadership role is located in Melbourne, FL.
The successful candidate will manage the functional engineering activities of up to fifteen Vehicle Engineers in one of these disciplines: Electro-mechanical Design and Wire Routing, Fluid and Mechanical Systems, Crew and Equipment Design Integration. The Section Manager is responsible for product integrity, process adherence, staffing, training and tools.
Responsibilities:
Technical and process oversight, participation in the performance review process, management of personnel records and participation in corrective or disciplinary actions.
Staffing responsibilities may include hiring, reduction in force actions, recruiting of personnel and working to ensure that engineers with the appropriate skills and experience are deployed.
The ability to manage training opportunities and budget allocations, as well as participation in tool, process, and metric initiatives is required.
Team engagement is a key focus.
The ability to mentor, provide career guidance and coaching, and to lead others is required.
The Section Manager will also perform technical tasking within their discipline of experience, which will comprise the majority (approximately 80%) of the candidate statement of work.
This position may require travel up to 10%.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant STEM discipline and 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's Degree in a relevant STEM discipline with 7 years of related engineering experience
Demonstrated excellence in a discipline of Vehicle Engineering
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret or higher clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced STEM degree
Experience in one or more of the following Vehicle Engineering disciplines: Electro-mechanical Design, Wire Routing, Fluid Systems, Mechanical Systems, Environmental Control Systems, Cognizant/Responsible Engineer, Crew and Equipment Design Integration
Experience in a technical leadership role
Experience with Build To Package development, applicable notes, Bill Of Materials, lifecycle sign-off process.
Experience with CPLM or Teamcenter product data management tools
Experience with CATIA, NX-CAD, and/or similar CAD packages.
Experience with Earned Value Management, Control Account Management, Staffing Forecasting
