Job Description:

Management Accountant

The Management Accountant is a key member of the Comms‑Care Controllership team, reporting to the Financial Controller. The role is responsible for delivering accurate, timely monthly financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring integrity across the general ledger. This role focuses on core accounting, month‑end close, statutory compliance, and financial governance.

As a Management Accountant you will…
Include but not confined to:

  • Deliver accurate monthly management accounts, including P&L and balance sheet analysis for accounts within your remit.
  • Prepare and post month‑end journals including accruals, prepayments, COGS, payroll, intercompany and FX.
  • Maintain and govern the month‑end close timetable, alongside the FC.
  • Produce variance commentary on actuals vs prior period/prior year.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations across all key accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS and internal control frameworks.
  • Support process documentation and control improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare VAT returns and ensure HMRC compliance.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, including depreciation and capitalisation processes.
  • Support internal and external audit with schedules and supporting evidence.
  • Perform daily/weekly cashbook updates, bank postings, and cash reconciliations.
  • Liaise with Payroll for accuracy of journals, reconciliations, and statutory deductions (RTI, PAYE, NI).
  • Any other task as deemed necessary within the scope of this role
  • Collaborate with FP&A as necessary

The ideal candidate for this position will have…

  • AAT qualified or ACCA/CIMA part‑qualified/qualified.
  • Experience in month‑end close and management accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP).
  • Strong control mindset with excellent attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a service‑led and fast‑paced environment.
  • Highly motivated with great work ethic
