Job Summary: This position is located in the Facility Management Service. The purpose of this position is to accomplish carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, air conditioning, and pipefitting repairs at near journeyman level. Work is to include preventive maintenance and assigned work orders for certain scheduled work on the buildings and systems. The incumbent is required to repair, adjust, modify, install, trouble-shoot and inspect systems necessary for the hospital's operation.

Major Duties:

  • Major duties included, but are not limited to: Performing simple repairs to electrical switches and controls. Properly shutting down and locking out equipment before scheduled maintenance inspections are performed. Assisting other Facilities Management personnel with equipment cleaning. Performing operational checks on equipment assigned. Ability to identify and correct minor defects on doors and door hardware. Performing routine maintenance and troubleshoot various building systems. Hanging pictures, towel boxes, tissue holders, white boards etc. Modifying, adjusting, or repairing wall mounted devices. Closing out work orders on a daily basis for work that was completed that day or no later than the next business day. Reading and understanding simple blueprints and sketches. Making minor repairs to plumbing equipment such as toilets, sinks and plugged drains. Operating one or more power tool for the installation of equipment. Assisting other personnel with building maintenance projects, including electrical, air conditioning, plumbing and painting. Replacing ceiling tiles. Ability to repair, adjust, modify, install, trouble-shoot and inspect systems necessary for the hospital's operation during days, afternoons, or evening shifts, weekends, and holidays. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm; may be subject to emergency call-in or off duty-hours in order to accomplish the needs of the service Compressed Work Schedule: May be available at management approval Position Description Title/PD#: Maintenance Worker/PD09912A Physical Requirements: The physical demands on the incumbent involve light and heavy lifting, climbing, kneeling, overhead work, pushing and/or other fatigue producing factors.
