Who will you be working with?

You will be part of a dedicated maintenance team that collaborates closely with production operators, supervisors, and facility staff to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency. Your role supports both the production floor and facility operations, contributing to a safe and productive work environment.

How will you make the difference

As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in keeping our manufacturing operations running smoothly. By installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and facility equipment, you will help prevent downtime, improve safety, and support the achievement of our business goals. Your expertise ensures that our equipment operates at peak performance and meets the demands of a fast-paced railroad manufacturing environment.

Flexible schedule: 4 days – 10 shifts. Flexibility to work overtime on Fridays and Saturdays may be required.

What we want to know about you:

Minimum Qualifications and requirements: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • High school diploma or GED required; or at least 2 years of related maintenance experience.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

  • Knowledge of repair techniques and basic construction principles for facility and equipment maintenance.

  • Skilled in using hand tools and operating light and heavy equipment.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Mechanical and Electrical Systems: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems used in production and facility equipment.

  • Repair Techniques: Ability to diagnose issues, repair or replace parts, and perform adjustments to restore equipment functionality.

  • Construction Knowledge: Basic knowledge of construction principles for facility maintenance, including structural repairs and installation work.

  • Preventive Maintenance: Familiarity with predictive and preventive maintenance practices to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.

  • Technical Reading: Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and work orders accurately.

  • Safety Compliance: Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and ability to maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Install, maintain, and repair production machines and facility equipment to ensure optimal performance.

  • Respond promptly to emergency repairs during production and perform scheduled maintenance during downtime to minimize disruptions.

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues, replace or repair parts, and make necessary adjustments to restore functionality.

  • Perform basic construction and fabrication tasks related to facility upkeep, including structural repairs and equipment installation.

  • Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and work orders to execute maintenance and repair tasks accurately.

  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.

  • Operate and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, and light/heavy equipment safely and effectively.

  • Perform simple machinist duties such as drilling, cutting, and shaping parts when needed.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, maintain clean and organized work areas, and report hazards promptly.

  • Document maintenance activities and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding equipment status.

  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support team and operational needs.

  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods, including full shifts.

  • Frequent walking throughout the production area.

  • Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment with exposure to varying temperatures.

  • Requires manual dexterity for handling welding tools and equipment.

  • Must be able to wear and properly use required PPE, including respirator, welding jacket, gloves, hood, ear protection, and eye protection.

  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Work is performed in shop environment that is non-temperature-controlled production environment, with exposure to varying temperatures and other environmental factors.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The hourly start rate for this role is currently $28.00

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
