FLSmidth Ltd. (FLS) is looking for a Maintenance Technician to add to our Timmins Service Center team.
Job responsibilities
- Promote a "safety first" culture by active participation at safety toolbox meetings, continuous evaluation of work site for potential hazards or unsafe actions, use Personal Protective Equipment "PPE" appropriate to the site or work to be performed and report near misses/hazards, accidents or injuries (no matter the severity) and identify unsafe equipment/work per company guidelines or procedures.
- Perform quality work by following instructions and procedures.
- Practice tool management by properly using and caring for tools and equipment.
- Attends any required training classes.
- Abide by company policies, work procedures, guidelines and job site analysis.
- Perform the following tasks safely and efficiently:
- Grinding – hand grinding to clean seams, edges, dressing machined surfaces, clean-up for weld prep.
- Welding – FCAW, GMAW & SMAW to a required specification (typically a code weld).
- Painting – using paint booth following dedicated procedures
- Carbon Arc-Gouging & Cutting.
- Cutting using oxy-acetylene hand, track and plasma torches.
- Inspects and operates mobile equipment (forklift, loader & cranes).
- Skilled in using precision methods to align equipment & interpret measurement data.
- Worksite housekeeping.
- Special tasks as assigned.
What you bring
- Preferred is 2 years of experience performing mechanical construction or mechanical repairs of industrial process equipment.
- Able to perform metal working techniques (grinding; cutting; welding) and alignment methods to efficiently deliver a consistent level of quality.
- Capable of using a computer and software systems (MS-Office).
- Willingness to travel and work with a team of professionals.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
