Maintenance Team Lead (Night Shift)

Under direction from the Plant Maintenance Management Team, the Lead Technician is responsible for the mechanical performance of all plant equipment through continuously improving and sustaining equipment reliability. Through increased reliability we will strive for zero unplanned downtime on production and utility equipment. Direct the work of mechanics. Actively participate in the preventative maintenance duties as outlined in the Preventative Maintenance Program. Able to perform maintenance tasks involving troubleshooting and repairing all facility equipment. A sense of urgency in terms of maximizing production and minimizing downtime is necessary in this type of manufacturing environment. Tasks performed involve work with equipment and materials that require familiarity with formal safety and sanitation procedures and the following of these procedures to maintain the safety of the work environment and to avoid product contamination.

Schedule: Night Shift, 12-hour Shifts working a 3-2-2 schedule. 48 hours one week, and 36 the next week. Weekends and OT required based on business needs.

Job Description:

Responsibilities: 

  • Interface with Plant Management Team, Maintenance Scheduler/Planner, and day shift Supervisor, Lead and Technicians (Mechanics) to coordinate 

    predictive and preventative maintenance functions and work assignments. 

  • Interface with technicians on planned preventative maintenance to ensure reliability and accuracy of work  

performed. 

  • Participate in preventative maintenance functions. 

  • General work orders for planned preventative maintenance. 

  • Analyze and Trend Data in areas such as: 

  • Predictive maintenance results 

  • Unplanned equipment downtime 

  • SAP CMMS Data such as part usage - once implemented 

  • Facilitate and apply Root Cause and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FEMA) problem solving tools on critical assets 

  • Develop and train maintenance and PM technicians 

  • Performance of troubleshooting and repair of all facility machines and equipment 

 

 Supervision: 

  • This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisors 

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills 

Required 

EXPERIENCE  

  • Minimum of two (2) years in a lead position  

  • Minimum of two (2) years industrial maintenance background with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience. 

  • Experience using a computerized SAP maintenance management system (CMMS) - highly preferred.

 

PERSONNEL SKILLS   

  • Self-motivated and results driven 

  • Strong team interaction skills with ability to engage cross-functional resources 

  • Excellent organizational skills 

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS  

  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and controls (PLC’s, HMI’s, Sensors, etc.) 

  • Strong computer and standard software experience (MS Office, E-Mail, CMMs, etc.) 

  • Knowledge of Predictive maintenance tools and technologies 

  • Project management & timeline execution. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

  • Ability to lift 50 to 100 lbs.

  • Standing, walking, stooping, bending, climbing, etc. for long periods of time. 

 

Preferred 

 

  • 5 years industrial maintenance experience in a food manufacturing environment 

  • Experience using SAP CMMS applications 

  • Expert understanding of electrical principles tools and troubleshooting techniques 

  • Experience and ability to troubleshoot and program on Allen Bradley ladder logic platforms 

  • Experience or certification in vibration monitoring, alignment and thermal imaging techniques 

  • Understanding of NFPA70E
