Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship

Our 5-year scheme blends hands-on experience with first-rate college learning, designed to help you develop as far as you want to go. Shift work is part of the role, but we aim to accommodate individual circumstances wherever possible. The rewards are exceptional—we invest in our apprentices because we believe in your potential. Location: Nissan Sunderland and local Colleges

What You’ll Need 

  • 4 GCSE grades or equivalent (achieved or predicted):  

  • Mathematics (Grade B+ or 6+) 

  • English (Language or Literature) (Grade A-C or 4+) 

  • Two other subjects (Grade A-C or 4+) 

  • A positive attitude and motivation to learn 

  • 16 or over at the start of your apprenticeship 

  • Ability to commute to Nissan Sunderland SR5 3NS and local College sites 

  • Eligibility to work in the UK (must have ordinarily resided in the UK & Islands for at least 3 years by Sept 2026) 

 

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Split your time between college learning and working within our world-class manufacturing plant 

  • Work alongside experienced technicians to develop theoretical, problem-solving, and practical skills 

  • Potential to gain exposure to varied areas including Body Shop, Trim & Chassis, Powertrain, and Press & Plastics 

  • Experience advanced technologies such as PLCs, AGVs, and FANUC robots 

  • Contribute to the development of current and future Nissan vehicles, including new model launches 

By the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll have the opportunity to achieve: 

  • Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician* 

  • Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician*
