The Opportunity
This is a full-time position that works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in the GES Global Engineering Services division.
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for manpower and resources within the maintenance area to ensure timely support to operations and engineering. Responds to issues related to equipment, personnel and MAXIMO system. Plans and implements projects and activities with timelines and objectives. Responsible for the implementation of equipment related projects (in addition to normal maintenance supervisor responsibilities). Keys to success include regulatory compliance of employees/equipment, promotion of a safe and positive work environment, constant pursuit of business excellence initiatives, successful management and development of direct reports and achieving results through cross‐functional relationships (i.e., Engineering, Quality, Equipment, Materials). The Maintenance Supervisor will implement policies and procedures to maintain production equipment compliance and execution while supporting daily production / operational needs.
What You’ll Work On
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining effectiveness of the quality system by ensuring quality/compliance of equipment & tooling.
- Supervise, train, and develop nonexempt personnel. Develop goals / objectives for all assigned personnel. Monitor employees' performance against goals and provide performance feedback. Write and conduct development plans / performance appraisals. Manage employee HR issues.
- Implement a staffing plan by identifying resources requirement, writing justifications for additional personnel, obtaining approval for changes, and coordinating the selection process with human resources.
- Supervise and coordinate contracted services to adhere with GMP and plant’s procedures and requirements. Ensure all assigned personnel are in personal training compliance and unique training needs of the group are met.
- Creates short to mid‐range plans to carry out objectives established by management. Recommends or modifies the structure of the team subject to approval of management.
- Supervise operation, maintenance, repairs and overhaul to the related plant equipment. Be responsible for overall equipment performance & maintain equipment downtime to an acceptable level; support and lead equipment upgrades/new installations. Recommend and implement changes in equipment operating procedures, design or configurations that improve cost performance, operational performance, efficiency, and reliability, while remaining within OEM warranty specifications.
- Maintain and administrate preventive maintenance, corrective, predictive program for plant equipment, including the implementation of critical equipment and ready for install assets to optimize equipment changes and reduce downtime.
- Responsible for the Ready for Install (RFI) area including maintaining acceptable stock levels, identifying, procuring and qualifying equipment to be added in the RFI area.
- Assure adequate spare parts, tools, and other items needed to perform the maintenance, calibration and MAXIMO system work duties.
- Maintain and administrate the MAXIMO/CMMS system.
- Assist/support other functions as needed; proactively seek ways to increase productivity (i.e., leading the identification and implementation of equipment improvements to increase productivity, while ensuring compliance to existing requirements).
- Work as a liaison between Operations, Engineering, Equipment, Materials and Quality to manage and resolve equipment related production issues.
- Provide support and lead compliance and quality related investigations; resolve corrective actions. Investigate and/or participate in the evaluation and preparation of formal investigations of excursions in areas of responsibilities. Establish sound and effective corrective actions to fix root cause of events.
- Assist in the preparation of the maintenance budget accordingly to the Plant needs and projections.
- Responsible for the creation and management of equipment related capital projects associated with improvements, critical spares and obsolescence. Identify options, prepare analysis, provide expertise and make recommendations relating to new maintenance procedures, lease vs. buy, new technologies, equipment overhauls, repair vs. replace decisions, installation of new equipment, and disposal of obsolete equipment.
- Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for EHS performance and compliance through active participation and support of Abbott’s EHS program.
- Interprets and executes policies that affect individuals within the assigned organizational unit or department.
- Monitors compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. compliance with FDA, BSI, EEO regulations etc).
- Help in the development of work schedules for department by assessing priorities, workload and available resources.
- Maintains personnel records (e.g., work schedules, vacation schedules, leaves) and makes or directs modifications in the database to reflect actual changes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation/Electronic) or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum 6+ years experience in a maintenance/engineering/operations/technical environment.
- Good communication skills verbal and written in English, Spanish, and regulatory language. - Good interpersonal skills.
- Computer literate.
