Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary

JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS

Give key data and statistics (4 or 5 at most) that characterize the results, means, and activities upon which this position has a direct or indirect influence : turnover,  gross margin, budgets, tonnage, number of subordinates, number of customers, geographical zones concerned..

 
  • Assure that all employees are trained and that work practices meet all requirements.

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance activities

  • Develop a weekly plan and define and share job priorities.

  • Perform purchasing and procuring of mechanical parts and resources.

  • Assist in defining critical spare parts and assure that they are available

 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

List the essential functions, major activities and the main areas of ongoing responsibility concerning the position. Give the precise long- term results or the contributions expected of the position.  Use action verbs (ex : contribute, assure, supervise…) to indicate the degree of responsibility of the position with regards to the expected results. Identify the necessary components of success and the specific difficulties for the position.

 
  • Participate in a weekly planning meeting that includes hourly staff as well as production supervisors

  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis for any and all plant failures

  • Perform purchasing of mechanical parts and resources.

  • Assist in defining critical spare parts and assure that they are available.

  • Identify, analyze, and review equipment maintenance problems and drive sustainable solutions.

  • Assist in the development of a maintenance centered training program for all technicians  

  • Support the development of a plant Capital expense Revenue project.

  • Work with other departments and engineering to assist in evaluating equipment.

  • Function as a team player on mechanical and cross-functional teams and to provide resources for other teams.

  • Working with vendors and OEM’s to ensure equipment specifications are met. 

  • Track and adhere to maintenance and capital budgets     

  • Keep all maintenance areas clean including the tool room and bone yard.

  • Support production processes as needed by the business.

  • Serious 7 and Take 5 

  • Safety PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, Hi-Viz at minimum stripes on shirt, hard hat, steel toe boots.



 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience requirements

(Educational requirements should be the minimum level acceptable for the position. Experience should describe both type and amount of necessary qualifying experience.  Also note any professional licenses required)

 

Education:

 

Experience:

  • 3 - 5  years mechanical engineering in a heavy industrial production environment

  • Direct supervision experience

  • Experience working with reliability based maintenance concepts

  • Maintenance planning and scheduling experience

  • Experience working with industrial electrical systems

  • Solid computer proficiency ( Email, Excel, Word, etc.)

 

Knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics (Identify skills/attributes required for this position which may include leadership, problem solving, interpersonal, communications, planning, team participation skills, and/or language requirements.)

 

Knowledge

Requires English written and verbal communications knowledge; general knowledge of business operations; 

 

Skills and Attributes

Strong interpersonal skills to counsel managers and employees, and the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. Presentation skills also necessary. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff, employees and the general public. Strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities, and time management also required. Must be able to maintain professional demeanor at all times and be able to build credibility with all levels within the organization. 

 

Additional Attributes

 
  • Position will require use of problem solving and decision making.

  • PLC set up and lat-logic programming a plus

  • Heavy mobile Equipment maintenance a plus

  • Experience with process control is a plus

  • Electrical maintenance experience

  • Demonstrated ability with principles of maintenance planning, scheduling, and coordination. 

  • Ability to understand and follow operating manuals.

  • Ability to troubleshoot with the use of reliability based techniques and equipment

  • Thorough knowledge of process equipment.

  • Good communication skills including the following: verbal, nonverbal, written, and listening.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.
