Maintenance Mechanic

Essential Job Functions:

  • Safety: Strive to achieve zero injuries, zero process incidents, zero distribution incidents, and zero environmental incidents.
  • Participate in the company’s Product Stewardship initiative to ensure the health, safety, and environmental performance of products throughout their lifecycle.
  • Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to document and review scheduled work, create notifications as needed, and accurately record hours, feedback, and other required information.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with operations, contractors, vendors, and instrument & electrical maintenance personnel to troubleshoot and repair equipment and processes.
  • May fabricate parts using both machine and hand tools common to the trade, working with a variety of materials as part of normal duties. Tools may include drills, pipe threaders, torque wrenches, mills, etc.
  • Actively participate in discussions with co-workers, supervisors, and production operators to improve best practices, workflow, and identify potential hazards.
  • Handle some hazardous waste materials when working on piping or equipment leaks or during material disposal, as part of normal operations.
  • May be required to operate a forklift, work truck, scissor lift, or manlift.
  • Perform scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment and facilities according to the company’s Maintenance Schedule, SOPs, ISO, Safety, and cGMP standards to ensure compliance with PSM and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform varied mechanical duties such as dismantling, moving, repairing, and installing facility equipment, including power shafting, pulleys, pumps, piping, hoists, and other equipment.
  • Safely start up and shut down equipment according to company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • Work on equipment layout changes or replacements during MOC-approved alterations, using P&IDs, manuals, ISOs, or Maintenance/Engineering procedures and safe operating practices as required

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, forklift, crane, or equipment-specific certifications) are a plus.

  • Hands-on experience with preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment, piping, pumps, motors, conveyors, and facility systems.

  • Experience reading and interpreting P&IDs, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.

  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for documenting and tracking maintenance work.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for mechanical and equipment issues.

  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, fabrication equipment, and machinery.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts and respond to emergency maintenance needs.
