Are you skilled in mechanical and trades work? As a member of our team, you will inspect, operate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain our physical facilities. Your expertise in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and machinist work will be essential. You will bring a good working knowledge of these related skill fields to ensure our facilities run smoothly and efficiently.

Monthly Salary:
$5,011 to $5,812 | Range 48G (Steps G - M) | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
High school graduation and four years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or repair work or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade; OR equivalent education/experience.
Completion of a four (4) year approved institution course in Plumbing, Electrical, Refrigeration, or HVAC Repair; OR four (4) years of applicable experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems in a large building
Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Demonstrate skill proficiencies thru oral, written and hands-on evaluation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in one of three trades: Plumbing, Electrical, or HVAC Repair.
Possession of a Plumbing or Electrical license.
Thorough knowledge of HVAC systems.
Background Check:
This position has been designated by the department to require a background check because it requires access to children or vulnerable adults as defined by RCW 74.34, engages in law enforcement, requires security clearance, interacts with WSU students in a counseling or advising capacity, has access to personal identifying and/or financial information, unsupervised access to university buildings/property, or other business-related need. A background check will not be completed until an initial determination of qualification for employment has been made.
