We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our Edmonton facility. In this role, you will oversee all maintenance activities, ensuring equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across the site. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to drive performance through people, processes, and preventative maintenance strategies. The incumbent will develop talent, manage risk, optimize performance, ensure quality, and align maintenance activities with business goals.

Key Job Responsibilities:
- Ensures adherence to AP occupational and process safety standards and to established Maintenance Procedures and work practices
- Assigns and outlines work to Maintenance Planners and Maintenance Supervisors in support of the rolling four-week Maintenance Plan
- Directs the use of equipment and material resources
- Establishes performance plans, conducts rating and effectively manages underperformance and discipline of staff
- Develop and coach subordinates as well as plan and administer succession for critical roles
- Spares and Materials Management including the accuracy of equipment BOMs and the assignment of correct levels of stock to meet business objectives
- Annual maintenance plan aligned to the Long-Term Production Plan
- Responsible for development of and compliance to annual Maintenance Fixed Cost budget
- Establishment of the site Basic Safety Process (BSP)
- Member of Capital Expenditure Approval and Governance, and Risk Management processes
- Emergency Response and Process Incident Investigation leadership
- Supports process hazard analysis (HazOp/LOPA), management of change (MoC)
- Oversees turnaround (TAR) and shutdown planning and execution
- Development of Maintenance Standards and business processes
- Fosters a culture of continuous improvement and drives maintenance excellence
- Ensures effective communications with key stakeholders (internal/external) and external suppliers and customers
Decision Making Authority and Problem Solving:
- Work is assigned in terms of tasks, priorities, and critical areas that impinge on work of other Departments
- Makes responsible decisions subject to minimal review. Takes courses of action necessary to expedite the successful achievement of operating objectives and ensure safety of staff and equipment.
- Critical decisions involving large sums of money are governed by the Table of Financial Authorities and long-range objectives are subject to minimal review for soundness of judgement
- Assigned responsibilities make it necessary to establish guidelines, devise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new manners and draw conclusions from supporting data.
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and climb ladders and steps.
· Must be able to wear appropriate PPE and physically perform all tasks in the field.
· Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
Minimum Qualification:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical or other suitable Engineering discipline or equivalent experience leading a Maintenance Department in large industrial facilities.
- Minimum 20 years of industry relevant experience that include:
- Ten (10+) years of Maintenance management in manufacturing operations with highly hazardous chemicals such as refining, petrochemical, power generation, or complex industrial gas facilities.
- Experience in brown or green-field Plant commissioning.
Job Specific Skills:
- Strong working knowledge and experience in process safety programs including permit to work, mechanical integrity, incident investigations (RCA), process hazard analysis (HAZOP/LOPA/OPHR), management of change (MOC), procedure development, and emergency response.
- Demonstrated capability in successfully leading change management and implementing programs/initiatives.
- Proven ability to lead direct staff reports and influence stakeholders outside direct reporting lines.
- Excellent communication skills and strong business acumen. Able to communicate effectively both upwards and downwards through the organization.
- Highly capable in the use of Microsoft Office business suite
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools such as SAP, Oracle, or similar with specific knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and planning and scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Maximo.
- Business case development, project management and execution
