Maintenance Engineer

100% Onsite – Louisville, KY

Summary:

The Maintenance Engineer is a critical member of the Zoetis Reference Laboratories team. This role is expected to apply technical expertise and skills in reference lab instrumentation and equipment maintenance to ensure equipment health, reliability and performance at our Louisville, KY lab. The engineer completes regularly scheduled maintenance activities for lab equipment and collaborates with the operations team and other functional areas to support daily operations including providing off-hours maintenance and support. This role also executes preventative maintenance to instrumentation & equipment where appropriate.

Job Duties:

  • Provide daily, weekly, monthly equipment & instrumentation scheduled maintenance services for laboratory equipment.             
  • Collaborate with cross-departmental teams (including IT resources, Procurement, Operations, QA) to facilitate integration of necessary systems and inventory establishment.
  • Contribute to project timelines, progress reports, lessons learned and other project health assessments.
  • Foster a positive culture of open communication, continuous improvement, and transparency by building strong relationships with lab colleagues.          
  • Attends and participates in team and project meetings.  
  • Support new laboratory sites with on-site support during go-live.
  • Recommend and assist in refining & improving Operations Support functions.
  • Perform and leads training exercises and sessions
  • Perform validation testing studies as part of laboratory expansion and other strategic priority projects
  • Participate in and/or lead quality improvement or other strategic priority projects across the organization as appropriate.

Education/Experience:

  • 2+ years of working laboratory experience required
  • 1+ years of scientific equipment maintenance required

Preferred Qualifications

  • A.A.S Medical Laboratory Technician, A.A.S. Veterinary Technology, B.S. Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Scientist, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • MLT, MT, CLS, MLS (ASCP/AMT); RVT, CVT, LVT certifications

Technical Skills Required:

  • Proficient knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems, MS Office applications, and collaboration software (MS Teams, Smartsheet)
  • Effective communication within team and cross-functional teams.
  • Clinical laboratory skills and instrumentation skills
  • Ability to perform validation testing studies
  • Strong team player willing to get involved at any level or capacity to ensure operational success
  • Models and upholds Zoetis Core Beliefs, including consistent professional behavior
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, comfortable with public speaking in small groups

Physical Position Requirements:

  • Ability to sit/stand/walk for long period of time
  • Ability to bend, crouch, and life up to 50 lbs
  • Travel (<5%) may be required
