The Role
As a Mainframe Systems Programmer at Kyndryl, you’ll be responsible for managing and optimizing z/OS and z/VM systems in enterprise mainframe environments. In this role, you ensure system availability, maintain patch compliance, and support stable and secure operations for business‑critical platforms.
You will proactively monitor system performance, resolve incidents using mainframe management tools, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support business operations and implement operational best practices. Your work plays a key role in maintaining reliable, complaint, and high‑performing mainframe systems.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and optimize z/OS and z/VM systems to ensure availability, stability, and performance.
Monitor mainframe environments proactively and respond to incidents using management tools.
Maintain patch compliance and coordinate system updates to minimize operational downtime.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support business operations and apply best practices.
Document system changes and maintains accurate records to support audits and compliance.

Who You Are
You’re good at what you do and possess the foundational experience to support enterprise mainframe environments. Equally important you bring a growth mindset and a strong sense of ownership for system stability and compliance. You are analytical, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in structured, regulated environments while collaborating with global technical teams.
Required Skills and Experience
2+ years of experience supporting z/OS and z/VM systems in mainframe environments
Proficiency in administering and troubleshooting z/OS and z/VM systems.
Hands‑on experience using mainframe management tools for monitoring and incident resolution.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Intermediate English proficiency required for technical documentation, incident reporting, and communication with global teams.
Familiarity with patch management processes, incident response, and compliance requirements.
Experience working in regulated or audit‑driven operational environments.
