Role for Magnetic System & Sensor Specialist:

Magneto‑Resistive (MR) sensing technologies are a core pillar of strategic innovation within the Sustainable Automation group, enabling advanced motion control, precision positioning, and intelligent system feedback across a broad range of industrial applications. MR sensing also plays a central role in ADI’s robotics strategy, particularly as we anticipate widespread deployment of these technologies in next‑generation humanoid platforms.

The MAG Team drives the development of next‑generation MR sensing solutions, supporting not only industrial automation but also adjacent markets where robust, high‑performance magnetic sensing is critical.

We are building a dedicated team of Magnetic Specialists who will design and model MR sensors and magnetic systems that will power the industrial and robotic platforms of the future. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an engineer or scientist with a strong technical foundation to learn from experts in magnetic system design and contribute directly to breakthrough sensing technologies that will shape the next era of automation and robotics.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced magnetic simulations using FEM tools as well as MATLAB- and Python‑based modelling to analyse customer use cases, diagnose sensor‑development issues, and guide magnetic system design decisions.
  • Investigate and resolve magnetic‑related challenges arising during sensor development, evaluation, testing, or field use by applying strong analytical and simulation skills.
  • Support the Applications Engineering team by interpreting customer requirements, translating them into magnetic design specifications, and proposing feasible magnetic solutions.
  • Collaborate with magnet suppliers and manufacturing partners to design, prototype, and validate magnetic components and assemblies for MR sensor systems.
  • Assist Evaluation and Test teams by diagnosing and resolving magnetic issues encountered during characterization, validation, or system‑level testing. Additionally, contributing to the concept phase to develop magnetic excitation methods and setups required for test strategies and evaluation workflows
  • Work closely with Reliability and Failure Analysis teams to identify root causes of magnetic‑related failures and contribute to corrective‑action strategies. Furthermore, help define appropriate test methods and stress conditions to ensure robust qualification and long‑term reliability of magnetic systems.
  • Engage with sensor manufacturing teams (including wafer fabrication, wafer probing, and packaging).

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field, with approximately five years of experience in magnetic systems, xMR sensors, or thin‑film technologies. A Master’s or PhD is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and coordinate multiple small‑scale projects while collaborating with cross‑functional teams across the organization; prior experience in a similar environment is an advantage.
  • Proactive mindset with strong judgment, initiative, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent technical learning ability, with the capacity to understand, interpret, and translate requirements from diverse engineering and scientific disciplines.
