QUALIFICATIONS:  
Applicant must have a high school diploma or the equivalent.  Applicant must be able to read and perform basic arithmetic calculations and  possess a high degree of mechanical aptitude and demonstrate such knowledge by passing the EEI CAST Test.  Must be able to demonstrate ability to operate machine and carpentry shop equipment using appropriate shop methods and practices as well as the use and care of shop tools and equipment, including but not limited to drill presses, band saws, welders, shears, table saws, jointers, brakes, electric and hydraulic related shop equipment and portable tools.  Other general qualifications pertaining to physical fitness, attendance, safety performance will be considered.

Additional consideration will be given for the following job-related experience or training:
1.      Training or experience in rough carpentry work such as framing, concrete form work.
2.      Training or experience in the reading and interpretation of blueprints.
3.      Training or experience in maintaining equipment, tools and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
4.      Performing work in a safe and neat manner.
5.      Any other qualifications contributing to the applicant’s ability to perform the job.

PRIMARY DUTIES:   
Works and assists in the Machine and Carpentry Shops to repair, adjust, rebuild, construct and service equipment and facilities using machine shop methods and practices and the use and care of shop tools and equipment, such as drill presses, band saws, welders, shears, table saws, jointers, brakes, etc. also electric and hydraulic related shop equipment and portable tools. 

Performs duties such as:
1.    Operating the shear, table saw, band saw, roll, bender, welder, drill press, jointer, hydraulic bender, manually operated machinery and hand tools;
2.    Performing general shop millwright and carpentry work, with the aid of shop mathematics, mechanical tables, graphs, charts, and other reference materials to design, lay out, fabricate and build parts, devices, and/or structures from metal, wood and/or composite materials as required;
3.    Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches and field measurements, using precision instruments and hand tools such as micrometers, gauges, calipers and other special instruments and devices;
4.    Maintaining equipment, tools and work areas in a clean and orderly condition, performing work in a safe and neat manner;
5.    Instructing and training lower classifications and directing the work of those assisting;
6.    Assisting employee of any classification in the performance of similar or less skilled work; and
7.    Coordinating activities with other employees to provide maximum safety and efficiency.

In addition to the primary duties listed above, the employee may be called upon to perform other work as circumstances require.

Must know and comply with all Company safety and health policies and procedures applicable to work performance.

            
WORKING CONDITIONS:    

Generally indoor work in well lighted but noisy and unconditioned atmosphere.
