Job Description

  

Job Summary:
A machine shop planner creates and manages production schedule to ensure efficient and timely completion of customer orders. This role involves analyzing requirements and coordinating with various departments including engineering, quality, purchasing, and production, to maintain documentation such as Bills of Materials (BOMs) and shop order work instructions. Key duties include monitoring and adjusting schedules to account for material shortages or design changes, identifying and resolving manufacturing challenges, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.  


Detailed Description:

• Scheduling: Create and maintain production schedules based on customer orders, capacity, and material availability to meet delivery dates.

• Coordination: Liaise with engineering, quality, purchasing, and production teams to ensure smooth workflow and resolve potential issues that could impact production.

• Inventory and Material Management: Monitor and control the flow of materials, identify shortages, and assist with procurement planning.

• Process Improvement: Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

• Problem-solving: Investigate and resolve manufacturing challenges to ensure production stays on track.

• Quality and Compliance: Ensure all shop orders comply with customer, regulatory standards, QA job reviews, and travelers for accuracy before they reach the production floor. 

 
Requirements:

• Strong understanding of machine shop operations and CNC machining.

• Preferably, candidates have proficiency in manufacturing planning software like IFS.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Ability to analyze data and create detailed plans.

• Knowledge of safety regulations and ISO standards is a plus.
