Are you ready to kick-start your career in the fast-paced world of M&A insurance? AIG is looking to strengthen our Northern European Mergers & Acquisitions (“M&A”) underwriting team with an ambitious and analytically sharp Analyst. This is a unique opportunity for a recent graduate or a junior professional to learn from the best and build a highly specialised career. This position is based in our centrally located Copenhagen office with our experienced Nordic M&A team.
What’s in it for you?
At AIG, we pride ourselves on fostering a culture of professional excellence and a healthy work-life balance.
Here’s what you can expect:
Work directly alongside our two senior M&A underwriters, who are recognized in their field. This is a rare chance to gain hands-on mentorship and accelerate your expertise.
This Analyst role is designed to be a stepping stone. We are investing in you to become a future M&A Underwriter, offering structured development and a clear path for advancement.
Be part of a dynamic European M&A team, giving you a strong international network from day one.
Enjoy a competitive compensation package, including a bonus plan, pension, and well-being benefits, as well as an additional 10 days of paid leave annually (five weeks + ten top-up days).
We offer flexibility in managing your schedule, allowing you to align your work with business needs and personal priorities.
Your impact and responsibilities
As our M&A Analyst, you will be the analytical backbone of the Northern European M&A team. You will play a critical role in supporting the full lifecycle of M&A transactions, from initial analysis to final integration, ensuring our team operates with speed and precision.
Your key responsibilities include:
Providing critical analytical support for underwriting decisions on bespoke M&A insurance solutions (such as W&I, tax, and litigation insurance).
Conducting initial analysis of M&A transactions, reviewing due diligence reports, sale and purchase agreements, and preparing non-binding indications.
Supporting senior underwriters with high-value analysis, project coordination, and client-facing documentation in parallel with fast-moving M&A transactions.
Drafting and managing key transaction documents, including non-disclosure agreements and non-reliance letters.
Interacting with a wide range of sophisticated stakeholders, including top-tier law firms, brokers, and internal AIG teams globally.
Contributing to business development and market analysis to support the team's growth in the Nordics and beyond.
What you’ll need to succeed
This role is ideal for a high-potential candidate ready to build a career in M&A. We are looking for a team player with a sharp analytical mind, a proactive approach, and a strong willingness to learn.
We believe you are a match if you have:
A university degree in Insurance, Law or Business/Economics with a strong academic record.
First relevant experience in an M&A environment (e.g. through relevant internship experience) would be beneficial.
Strong analytical skills, a structured approach, and a razor-sharp attention to detail.
Strong interest in M&A deals and transactional work.
Openness and willingness to dive into new topics, in particular the private equity and M&A context.
Quick comprehension and team player mentality.
High resilience, a positive mindset, and flexibility, especially when working under tight M&A deadlines.
A flair for systems and a good knowledge of Excel (knowledge of Salesforce is an advantage).
Excellent communication skills and fluency in Danish and English (both written and verbal).
Meet the Team
You will join the highly specialized M&A team, working as the analytical partner to our two senior underwriters in Copenhagen as well to our entire Northern European M&A team. While your local team is close-knit, you will also be a fully integrated member of the wider European M&A team – a dynamic group of professionals across key European cities. This gives you the best of both worlds: direct, daily mentorship from local senior colleagues and a broad international network to support your long-term career.
