General Profile: Requires in-depth knowledge of safety disciplines that include Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Facilities/Industrial Safety, Ergonomics, and Sustainability. Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions. Works independently, receives minimal guidance. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Key Responsibilities

Establish a “Safety First” culture within logistics operations. Conduct comprehensive audits to identify hazards and assess current state of safe behaviors across all logistics operations and locations. Gather feedback on safety perceptions across all levels of the org. Launch campaigns to highlight the overall importance of safety and bring awareness to all logistics employees.

Look for and action opportunities to incorporate technology improvements. Collaborate with the appropriate resources to test proposed solutions. Facilitate the sharing of BKMs across departments.

Support initiatives to improve overall health and wellness of employees on topics to include stress management, mental health, physical health, injury avoidance, and ergonomics.

Improve safety training and education within logistics operations. Partner with logistics training team to develop appropriate training materials and tools. Hold regular training sessions on ergonomics, hazard recognition, and emergency procedures. Share best practices and experiences. Provide the tools and resources necessary for supervisors to lead by example. Foster alignment of safe processes across departments.

Develop an implementation and engagement strategy. Form committees to oversee initiatives. Appoint champions to promote safe practice. Discuss incidents and improvements. Include opportunities to reward safe behavior and proactive hazard reporting and celebrations to recognize individual and team contributions to safety. Maintain a continuous improvement mindset and cadence to regularly update safety protocols.

Facilitate the 6S Program within logistics.

Routinely communicate and meet with different logistics department contacts to support their needs and concerns. Provide feedback to the different logistics teams and assist them to action their opportunities for improvement. Track and measure safety performance. Report and present safety related status and issues to senior management. Also be able to share those results with all levels of associates in a way relevant to their roles within the operation.

Participates in compliance evaluation of products, programs, and facilities per company and governmental requirements.  Participates in the evaluation and analysis of concept and feasibility studies, products, programs, and facilities per company and governmental requirements. Assist in the investigation of incidents, injuries, and identified hazards. Able to utilize 8D investigation methodology.

Has working knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements, codes, and standards.  Evaluates and specifies work methods, design requirements, procedures, and policies.  

Other Requirements: This position may require standing for extended periods of time, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, and the use of hand and power tools.

This position involves work in a warehouse and dock environment, so the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment including safety vest, hard hat, protective footwear, and eye covering may be used. Additionally, because this position also may involve working in a clean room, the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields may be required.

  • Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in logistics operational safety and basic knowledge of related disciplines including but not limited to ergonomics, sustainability, and environmental safety.

  • Has knowledge of safety best practices and how a safety culture integrates within logistics and impacts operations; is aware of the cost of not having a safe operation relating to employees, facilities, and material.

  •  Acts as a safety resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.

  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.

  • Impacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams; works within broad guidelines and policies.

  • Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus and collaborate on safety solutions, including mentoring peers and others, working with cross-departmental teams, and liaising between management and employees.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
