Logistics Operations Co-op Position Summary  

A two-semester Syfan Logistics operations co-op position that provides logistics operations experience over the course of two semesters (to take during the 2026 Spring semester and the 2026 Fall semester or as the student’s academic schedule permits). Will work in logistics operations completing rotations in operations support, carrier sales representative support, pricing, and operations technical support. Will complete up to 40 hours of assigned work per week, typically scheduled Monday – Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. A logistics operations co-op team member will work with assigned team leads, team members, training ambassadors, and operations managers in completing assigned work. Will have in-person progress evaluations with members of management, division mentors, and learning and development staff to receive positive and constructive feedback toward progress and development.

Logistics Operations Co-op Roles and Responsibilities

  • Co-op team members will be trained and developed as logistics coordinators to work in logistics operations support roles.
  • Will work in Syfan Logistics’ operations utilizing the “Syfan Way” in freight movement practices.
  • Will demonstrate effective communication skills through the effective handling of inbound and outbound phone calls with carriers and customers as well as effective email communications.
  • Will demonstrate proficiency in the utilization of the McLeod TMS (Transportation Management System) and other logistics management technologies in executing logistics operations duties.
  • Will adhere to Syfan’s standard operating procedures in meeting shipping customer requirements.
  • Will complete a carrier sales representative rotation experience during the first semester rotation.
    • Co-op team members will demonstrate an understanding of the carrier relations role in the 3PL transportation brokerage model through carrier sales team support.
  • Will complete a pricing analysis rotation with the Pricing Team during the second semester rotation.
    • Rotate through several pricing team roles to gain experience in the freight bidding process.
    • Will gain transportation freight bidding and analytics experience.   
  • Will follow the direction of their assigned division manager, assigned team leads, and other members of the operations team as required.
  • Will adhere to all Syfan policies and procedures.

  • Must be currently enrolled in classes with a Syfan Logistics partner university as a sophomore, rising junior, or rising senior.

This job operates in a physical office environment and is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands, arms and fingers to effectively operate computer equipment and handle and/or lift objects up to 20 pounds.   

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position is primarily a week day position scheduled within standard daytime business hours. The position may occasionally require individuals to work outside of normal daytime business hours to handle business needs associated with the position responsibilities.
