Logistics Manager

What you will do:

  • Champion team members development by building internal succession plans while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure all functions operate at levels which exceed our customer’s needs while achieving financial and operational goals.
  • Enforce policies and programs that strengthen the organization’s competitive position and operational profitability.
  • Review operational effectiveness and recommend improvements related to procedures, maintenance, space utilization, and equipment protection.
  • Collaborate with leader to develop and recommend budgets, maintain full P&L accountability
  • Ensure safety and security across all locations in compliance with OSHA guidelines, health and safety policies, and applicable legislation.
  • Enforces all company policies, procedures, and regulations as set forth by Wolseley Canada.
  • Overall accountable for a flexible year-round/seasonal staffing model supporting an around the clock 6day operation managing inbound-receiving, order fulfillment, outbound ship via delivery service and reverse flow/product returns processing
  • Work closely with HR to oversee and optimize field human capital while ensuring compliance with HR guidelines and recommendations.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage KPIs to drive financial and operational performance.
  • Maintain a commitment to continuous learning with respect to new operating methods as well as information technology impacting operations and safety.
  • Adhere to all policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Performing other duties or functions as requested by management.

What you will bring:

  • 7+ years of direct management experience in a speed to market (eCommerce, direct to customer) wholesale/retail distribution center.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, large volume, high-intensity environment, with strong focus on meeting/exceeding measurable metrics.
  • Applies in-depth advanced knowledge and skills of a specific/specialized technical area with understanding of external environment factors that may affect own specialist area. Provides expert advice, coaching and counseling within particular discipline/function area.
  • Experience in a logistics environment utilizing WMS and RF technology (HighJump and/or AS400)
  • Experienced in goods to person automation, including professional bridging WMS, transportation and inventory management workforce in similar manufacturing, production or distribution environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Prior experience working in an LMS/Labor or Engineered standard environment is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of management and staff
  • Experience with activity-based performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean thinking
  • Ability to collaborate with business leaders across the organization to anticipate, identify, recommend, and implement creative operational solutions.
  • Experience assisting in implementing continuous improvement programs, with knowledge of working in a LEAN environment is an asset.
  • Experience promoting and ensuring a quality driven and safety conscious environment
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer and internal relationship building
  • Must have ability to remain flexible in a dynamic work environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and user experience with Excel, Access, E-Mail, and Word Documents
  • Ability to effectively operate motorized and/or manual lifting devices.
