Job Summary: This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command.

Major Duties:

  • As a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST at the GS-0346-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Comprehensive logistics subject matter expert to provide assistance and oversight for evaluation, implementation, integration, and ongoing maintenance of USTRANSCOM's logistics capabilities, to include future planning and transformation initiatives. Evaluate distribution and logistics metrics processes for effectiveness across theaters, modernizes and transforms current business operations and systems, and provide guidance for distribution and logistics strategic planning. Identify opportunities and assist with integrating USTRANSCOM's operational and financial processes to improve Planning, Programming, Budgeting & Execution (PPBE) financial forecasting and Transportation Working Capital Funding (TWCF) projections. Provide logistics project management and transportation expertise related to defense logistics and transportation capabilities, researches and analyzes foundational national strategy documents (e.g. National Defense Strategy, National Military Strategy) and related issuances for the purpose of framing problem statements that contribute to materiel and non-materiel solutions for the joint force. Represent USTRANSCOM or Directorate as a senior advisor on transportation and logistics-related internal and external governance boards, committees, and meetings to discuss, formulate and/or coordinate strategy, policy and procedures. Provide advice and direction to component commands during analyses, and for resolving complex transportation issues and process improvements that enhance the program area.

Qualifications: You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Serving as a senior advisor for transportation, deployment, distribution, and supply chain management. Analyzing data and developing solutions for unique multi-modal and diverse air, land, and sea transportation requirements. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
